Hello from Atlanta burb

Just registered and saying 'hi'. Case enthusiast here. Live in a burb of Atlanta - originally from Middle TN. Dont know much about knives, but I do know I like them. My grandmother started me in the world of 'collecting' knives when I was a kid and would give me those cheap advertising knives she bought at flea-markets. Still have them. She'd also show up with a Kissing Crane or Tree Brand every now and again. She even had her own cigar box of pocket knives she kept over the years that belonged to family members who have passed. I use to sit in front of the city courthouse (on the square) where I grew up and whittle on a piece of cedar with the old guys - til the city passed an ordinance of 'no whittling in front of the courthouse' - who ever heard of such a thing?

It was only recently with the passing of my father that I renewed my interests in collecting knives. Not that I gave up on knives before, as I ALWAYS have one on me - recent years I carry CRKT brand for their utilitarian ways. But, Pops had been buying some pocket knives over the past few years and would approach me when I would visit with his latest purchase - 'check this out ... make sure your nephew gets this one'. Like he knew he was dying and wanted to pass along something to his grand kids that would be special. When Pops died, he left all his knives and guns to me. Sitting there, looking thru them all - it just kinda renewed my desire. I passed along the ones Pop had told me to earmark for the grand kids. Gave my sister a few that he use to carry - we even found a newer Case sitting in his chair on the front porch (musta fell out of his pocket).

I started buying some Case knives - my particular favorite brand - and some how centered my interests on Elephant Toes. Anyway - couldnt find a specific area on this forum that talks about the Toes or older Cases in general - so I'm just saying, 'hi'. I'll snap a pic of some favs and post here shortly.

Dave ... not sure which one you're referring to exactly as #3. How bout we divide them into 4 rows - starting from L to R, then count down from the top? If it's the Jr Scout (#640045R).. I picked that up at an old local Hardware store. They had several Case knives from the mid-80s sitting in the back storage part of their display case. It's an 85' yr model.

The top right 3, the Canoes? ... the very top one is from the mid 70s, unsure of exact year. Cant see the dots. And, though it's in nice shape, it has been carried. The other two are newer (2005 & 2008).

Yes, it would be top three in row four.

It figures those are Canoes. That pattern has taken on it's own life in my mind!

I find Spear Point blades to be devine!

Welcome to AAPK.
As you can see, it is the friendliest knife forum on the web!
The knives that belonged to your dad are no doubt the most precious in your collection. ::tu::
