a few in the line up

Hey all,

Here are a few blades in various stages of completion. The top three need final grinding and handles; the other three are still in heat treat and rough grind stages. I think the second one from the top will be sacrificed to testing, I'll post results later. These blades were all forged in Wyoming at Ed Fowler's place.
Also, a picture of my near complete trip hammer. A few finishing touches and a paint job and she'll be ready to pound away.

Take care.................................... Gary

Nice blades, what steel you work with? Like the hammer, a work of art in itself, beats an anvil. But just a beginner and manly work with simple carbon I have subjected a few blades to the 90 test.....close....but think i need to work on temper. Great work ! Craig

Those blades are carbon steel, I'd guess 5160 or 52100 just because I know Gary likes those. Maybe he has a piece of O-1. Also - I believe Mr. Fowler is in favor of those 2 steels also. Nice work Gary!
