This small collection just arrived, and I thought it would be an opportune time to start a thread with it, in our new Legacy forum!

Peachseed bone, nice condition, a friend in Texas found these for me! I picked them up on Tuesday;

Nice bunch Dave! You have a typesetter's knife. They did it two ways;
a dedicated blade, or by grinding a leather punch narrower at the tip.

Here is a typesetter's knife I have had for a while now.

Thanks, and yep! I made it to Tennessee. Had a fine time and saw a lot of really good folks. Sold a little 'stuff' and bought a lot of great old Eye Brands at the auction.
You posted a nice selection of old Schrades here. I think I have seen them before.

Nice Jack, Mr. B!!! The bails are pretty simple on most Schrades.
I just got this one from the 'Bay. That's my temporary lanyard - deserves something nicer, but I couldn't quite get it out of my watch pocket easily without one.
Love a good sheepfoot blade, and this one is little used.

BTW, how long is that Jack Blisterman??

It is a big deal when you find a nice old Peachseed bone Jack from Schrade!
And, some of the beautiful (yet scary) Celluloid handled Jacks, can give you the warm and fuzzies!!

But what about simple and functional Wood handled Jacks? These single blades are light and slim, but capable of work way beyond their size. They snap like the big boys, every one of them, and have nice utilitarian finishes. And they look good.
Schrade at its simplest, but not at its least!!
Two Schrade Cut Cos on top, or at right, the other three are Schrade Waldens.
These aren't my latest, but I haven't seen them in a long time. Out for a little oily wipedown!

I'll take a stab.

The long pull on the "half" hawkbill knife seems unqiue to me in addition to the fact that is a hawkbill frame with a very nice rattail bolster but it has a single sheepsfoot blade with quite a nice swedge. At first glace I took it for a rope knife, but the etch proves the fact. I havent looked at any "wonda" edge knives lately but the serrated 175 seems to have finer serrations than other "wonda edge" knives i've seen.

Now this is 100% speculation but i'll say the one on the far right has been cleaned, the finish isn't quite like the others, seems a bit coarser, and the bolster has been buffed carelessly with the blade open and has resulted in an uneven finish on the blade becuase of accidental overbuff.

Not bad!
That's the only Schrade I've seen with that fine saw edge! Wonda-edges are much coarser. I wonda'ed if anyone would see that edge.
I think the only cleaning has been done with Walker Wax or the equivalent. I get more shadow at the edge of the scanner, but I think that blade hasn't been ground again. The swedges look consistent, as does the texture. The bolster looks better in other views as well. Much crisper.
Pics and scans can be real good, but in-hand is the best.

All of them have a unique handle pin placement.

Yep, I believe George Schrade bossed over the Flylock division at Challenge Cut. Co. They're George's invention, patent #1258150.

Clip blades are indeed unusual on teardrop Jacks. You almost always see a spear blade!

Not to mention you don't see many Schrade teardrops without a big 'ol shield, fantastic group Charlie!!

My latest Teardrop is the one on the right. It's got all the bells and whistles; a shield, cap bolster, bone handles and an easy open cutout!
I thought it would be interesting to picture a group from plainest to fanciest.
At left, the simple one blade from the above picture, then next, one with a shield and an extra blade. Third one gets a cap. Fourth gets the EO notch. Then we go to jigged bone, and lastly, the works!!
A lot to collect in one pattern. Multiply that by the number of patterns, and your life's work is cut out for you!!

I wonder if they were all made with a clip blade???
