I know that Schrade etched some of their blades for one reason or another. I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread about those knives.

Here's a fairly common one ::nod::

A Schrade SS825 with its RAZOR BLADE STAINLESS etch.

This one lets you know it is stainless steel! Sorry for the poor scan. It is not always successful to scan etches!

Have a few I can share.
First one is an Orgill 150th ammiverserary edition that I find interesting
since Schrade forgot to include the small vertical lines to complete the
fold in the ribbon on the etch.
Scroll on the box is correct, omission only on blade etch. ::doh::

Here is one I got off fleabay about 3 years ago.
It would seem to be a prototype judging from the 0000 serial number on the bolster, but sometimes I don't trust the fleabay "Prototypes" though I have no reason tho think the serial # was not put there at the factory.

I have seen some sales-mens sample cases with all four 0000s.

I have a feeling that could be were that one came out of.

That may be worth more than a PROTYPE if you had the others from that kit.

Just my thought for the day....

Dale,

That may also be a photo sample, they often had a PS prefix before the zeros, but not always. Nice knife!!!! ::tu::

Here are a couple of etchings from the Ellenville 4th of July knives:

Nice and interesting knives in this thread! :D

upnorth,
With my loner of a brain cell I may be very wrong, but that etch seems familiar. If I've seen it, it must have been on a picture...
I don't know if the knife is real... Looks nice, though!

That is a pretty knife Charlie. he knife rang a bell with me too. I remembered where I saw the same arrow in the etch, from times of wishing knife pictures could come to life. It appears your knife has a similar spear blade from the same era. Not sure if there is any connection though.

As a side note, I've wanted to find a stabber jack. Cool pattern.

Schrade also etched many of their switchblade knives that were made between 1904 and 1956. Here are three of the etches that they used on their 8 3/4" open automatics:

I know this is about Blade Etchings. However I must show off my Sterling Silver 25th. Anniversary SS34
It was never finished off, it dose not have a Blade Etching or a Sterling Silver shilde in the handle.
Only one handle has been shaped and polished - the other handle is un-tuched.
I have six SS34 in their nice wooden box with the velvet bag ect ect, and I payed top $$$ for all six of them.

I only payed $10 for this un-finished SS34 - I think the best knife buy ever....Ken ::ds:: ::ds::
