Can anyone identify this tang stamp? It looks like two flags inside a circle.

Just a guess from way out of left field Blue but could those be two axes crossed? Maybe Battle Axe?

It certainly could be. I didn't think of that.

battle axe was started in 1975.........looks older......buried longer
and mark was two axes (crossing)over wording....................

There was a Battle Axe Cutlery in Philadelphia from 1877-1937 according to Levine's book.
But I've never seen a picture of their tang stamp.

It looks like two crossed arrows to me. I think Romo may have used a mark like this.

So it's not Battle Axe. I'm now thinking either ROMO or CHINA LIGHT INDUSTRIAL.

THAT is one BEAUTIFUL old EO.

I bet they are about as plentiful as chicken lips too.

Fran, the bone on that EO is very much similar to that of Robeson, but long pulls on Robeson jacks are not common. However, the older the jack, the more likely it is to have a long pull. Also, the pattern and shield are like that of a Robeson 027 EO jack.

Do you have any information about whether Battle Axe, Philadelphia, made their own knives or were they contracted out?

Charlie, as far as I know, Battle Axe did not manufacture. It was a brand name for hardware wholesaler A.R. Justice Co. I did take notice of the worm groove bone, but did Robeson make EO's with the master blade on the mark side ? This is the only EO I have made like this, and for me, it works better than the usual arrangement. I hold a knife in my left hand and open with my right, and this allows better access to get a good pinch on the blade. Maybe it was meant to be a left handed knife ? Really heavy springs on this one too !

Wully, this is the only Philly Axe I've ever seen. I went to a new gun show about 10 minutes from home, and guys were turning around at the door and leaving because there were only 5 dealers there. I went in anyway, and found the knife.

We won't have gun or knife shows to attend, unless we're willing to spend a couple of bucks to attend and support them.

I agree with Charlie, IMO Robeson worm grooved handles are the prettiest of all brands.

I have seen that stamp on a Chinese knife, IIRC.
I think I still have a blade with that stamp on it in my junk drawer.
I will see if I can find it.

On this knife I have it is two arrows

heres a closer look but not sure where it came from, The knife was in a freinds drawer and looks like a cheap novelty knife from the olympics?? any Ideas?? is anyone looking for a knife like this one for their collection?

Anyone ever seen this stamp before? Two circles locked together.

The OP knife (from years ago !) is German. It is in Anthony Carter's book but would take me hours to go through every page to find it.
