I bought this knife from an outfit called Richmond Cutlery UK LTD ::nod:: A fella named Henry Morgan is who actually made the knife.I was told that the blade consisted of 512 layers, and was forged using 1095 Tool Steel and a 15N20 Nickel Alloy Steel into what is called a ladder pattern ::shrug:: Now I ain't gonna lie to you :? I don't know about all them fancy steels, and layers, and such, but I can tell you this ::nod:: She sure is PURDY ::ds:: Kinda funny story behind it too. When I bought her I knew she didn't come with a sheath,so I started looking around for one, and it didn't take me long to figure out that you could buy a good knife for what a lot of folks wanted for a nice sheath ::nod:: So I found one on ebay that looked like it would fit her,and that I really liked, and started bidding without knowing for sure if it would actually work ::shrug:: Couldn't have done any better if I would have had exact dimensions ::tu:: She fit like a glove  Anyway here she is and I hope ya'll enjoy lookin at her ::tu:: Razor

:D He may call it a ladder but to me it is a twist pattern. Not saying that is bad , it still is avery pretty blade, just call it different over here. Very nice sheath. Now you have a very nice combination. Mike
