All About Pocket Knives

Just wondering why Case would have knives made in Germany.
The box is dated 12/05/01...a nice well built knife, it looks like
a Boker...could they have made it...

Casn't answer your question as to why they did it. But they did it.

They made at least a couple patters in Germany and they DO look exactly like Boker's.

then I'd bet Boker was the manufacturer of these knives.
Wonder if this was a one time import or did it run for several years...?

BTW...nice looking knife, bet it's not a lightweight...

Boker made a few heavy lockbacks and fixed blades because Case didn't have the tooling. Collectors didn't like Case knives from Germany at all, so the program died just a few months after starting.

Some Case knives were also made in Solingen, Germany during the Jim Parker years.

Those are two nice looking knives. I REALLY like that one that needbucks posted. I ain't a post 1970 Case fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I'd carry that one.

when james parker owned case, he bought an older german factory "kinfolks" and put together and sold what inventory remained most were little gentleman's knives the "toledo" scale knives. there was only a lot of 300 of the toledo scale knives i was lucky enough to find one cheap at a yard sale the guy didn't know what it was and i would post a picture of it if i could figure out how. also parker while he owned case had seki japan make the blades and ship to the u.s. this was when japanese steel had to be as good or better than american because it was an import. before the second bush and his quality reduction forhttps://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/knife_foru ... &id=334378 imports happened.

Agree with the above completely. You might be surprised to know that those Boker German Made Case knives have quite a collector following. I am lucky enough to have a few. The Boker made Case knives range from a very small stag lockback to a very large two blade folding hunter with a saw blade. The ones pictured above fall in the middle. There was also a Lady's Leg, a Bowtie/Fishtail, a Lobster pattern, and even a small six bladed Scout pattern. Most of them sell for premium prices in the collector market. I have seen the large heavy folding hunter with saw blade sell for over $300 on eBay.

I would only correct that to say that the lockbacks, some fixed blades, and (IIRC) straight razoes were made by Boker in the early 2000's.

The Bowtie, lobsters, and lady legs were circa 1990 when Parker owned Case, and he had them made by Olbertz.

I agree the Boker made knives go for $$$, the Olbertz made knives not as highly demanded.

Here is one I just picked up and is a prototype. From the above information it must have been made by Olbertz. If anyone is collecting these I will trade this knife. Not really what I like.

It seems a lot of the German made Case knives with celluloid handles had outgassing problems.

Bob, you better get the covers off of this one. It is outgassing pretty bad.
The German goldstone was notorious for outgassing.
