All About Pocket Knives

Forged this one out inside of a concrete block with charcoal. Was great fun, my first forged blade







4 1/2" handle 3 3/4" blade, 1/8" stock, tapered tang, I was shooting for a not so radical nessmuk/woodcraft look. Think I got it.

Pretty darn resourceful there Kaleb! It looks like your forge blew up! I guess all you gotta do is use the other end. Please post pictures of the finished product.

There's a lot of controversy between forged vs stock removal methods of blade making, volumes have been written on the subject.

I've seen the video you made where you chop a 2X4 in half and then shave hair with a stock removal blade you made...........what more could a guy ask!

I forge because that's what I learned to do, and the people I learned from are tops in their field. Does it make make a better blade? Many would argue the point. I have never personally tested one against the other, so I can not offer an educated opinion.

I like forging............the downside; it takes a lot of time.

I was up late last night nosing around the forums, seen that, today was my day off so I thought "why not?" Was a hoot, it's fun pounding on steel until it suits you, MUCH more fun than griding a blade IMO
Yes the concrete does not cope too well with heat, didn't expect it to though. Kind of one of them "what the hell?" moments. I get those from time to time and just do something spur of the moment off the wall to keep things changed up a bit.
