I picked up this little beauty and can't find anything about it in Goins' as far as dating, also would like to know the value on it. The tortoise handles have pieces missing but all the blades are there even the toothpick and twezzers. It is 2 3/4" closed and has great birdseye pins. It is marked GUERRE FILS PARIS. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Mike

Mike;
I'm not close to my books. But, check Levine's Guide-4th edition, in the foreign folders section, under France. He lists some notable French pocketknife manufacturers in the body of that part of his great book. The same makers are not necessarily listed in the master list in the front of the book.

Using my very rudimentary French, which is limited to words like, "Chevrolet Coupe' " etc, suggests that Guerre, even though it's most likely a surname, does mean "war", and Fils means children, or in this case, most likely "Sons".

Might have been a Paris retailer, instead of a cutlery.

Found this using a Google search:

I have a knife with the same marking on the blade I acquired many years ago.I have never found any info on it so I will follow this thread closely.
It is a single blade with the handle made of a single piece of ivory carved out to accept the blade with an external spring pinned to the handle and a ring release.
