All About Pocket Knives

Hello, I am new to the pocket knife world but very interested. I have this knife shown in images that I have only scant detail on; I was hoping someone may know something more about it; age, value, etc. I believe the handle is peachseed bone, it has 3 pins holding it together. Thank you for any info you may have.

First, welcome to the forum and hope we can help on the knife.
I do not find that number in my reference but that does not mean it is in error. The handles are not peachseed bone and in truth, do not appear to be bone at all. They have a delrin look to them which is a man made material, some sort of durable plastic.
The knife has had considerable use and sharpening and I suspect value would be in the neighborhood of $15. If the stamp reads as your subject line states, it would date from 1973 to closing of the company in 2004.

Could it be stamped 302

That would make it a 2 3/4" Serpentine Jack, Duo-Tone Bonite handles with Clip & Pen Blades, Nickel Silver Bolsters & Shield, manufactured in 1957.

That knife configuration is consistent with being a 708 pattern. I've seen that handle material on an Ulster, but not sure I have on a Schrade. Keith, where did you see something about the handle? I could not find that.

I have some Ulsters that look like that, but haven't seen it on a Schrade.

I found the information on the 302 in Dale's "Schrade Open Stock Knives" in Research.

I agree that the handles look like an Ulster

Keith, I think you are right. It is not in the catalog, but we know they are not the bible. Bonite is a material described in some Ulster catalogs. I have an Ulster jack or stockman with that same stuff. It's harder than Delrin.

I went and dug up my Ulster 55 with the Bonite Handles.



Probably late 50's or early 60's during the bone to Delrin transition.
