I think the ride was a sling-shot type bungie cord deal. I don't know of any bona-fide roller coaster that uses criss-cross hand tied nylon straps as restraints. Looks like one of those rides you see set up on beaches and at small local parking lot amusement fairs.

The guy that tied him in did not allow for the shifting of his abdominal mass. The kid looks to have been at risk for falling out of the seat or asfixiation by strangling.

There's a reason our automobile restraints do not criss-cross our chests and that's it.

I don't care what one's body habitus might be, being put in true fear of loss of life is not funny. It wasn't funny when I weighed 157lbs and it wouldn't be funny now at 188 either.
