Mike, That would be a dog grooming knife a nice Remington piece with good value if in
good condition. I have never seem a fake one, but check out some books before buying.

I've noticed that when this pattern shows up they are usually in excellent to near mint condition. This is not a pattern one would buy to carry and use on a daily basis. This pattern can be found with no shield, a crest shield, or a doghead shield, the latter will usually bring a slight premium.

I have a Remington from 1922-1924 near mint condition with shield and is brown bone. I could not find any more pictures or info. on this knife. Do you know more info. for me.
