Hi Dale - yep - the whole thing - i made hand made folders for many years - Here is a 5 blade folder i made - elephant Ivory scales - worked springs, inside & out - engraved the inside of the liners - I started out making pocket knives - only started build fixed blades for more canvas area to scratch on - all the hand made stuff on my site is out of my personal collection - i haven't hand built a knife in 5 or 6 years - tom

Case came out with a Trapper with stainless blades & christmas tree scales - didn't go over very well - i bought 4 dozen of them from a dealer a few years back - think i have one left - think i paid $10.00 ea for them back then - the guy was sick of looking at them - This Red bone was also one of them - you might be able to see the tang stamp - tom

Thanks dale - if i had to do the same thing every day i would just shoot myself. I use to set at the bench 9/10/12 hours a day. Now 6/7 hours at the bench a day is plenty, after that i need to work on other things for a few hours. Getting on the metal lathe or wood lathe is very relaxing for me.

I do not make any knives. I just want to ask you if you can make the bolsters look like this one? How is it done?

some of the factory knives used cast bolsters - I don't know if yours is cast or if an engraver engraved them - i can hand engrave them like that for you. Tom

I would do a blue PPK - i have done 5 or 6 or them, they cut really nice - but i'm not interested in doing a PPK in stainless - i have a THP in stainless - it's the real skinny .22 walther - baby PPK - i did some engraving on it & it was pure torture - like trying to cut glass - I asume the PPK will have the same stainless - i still think the ppk was & is one of the best choice's for a carry gun. I normally carry a 1911 but i also like that THP with Remington stingers. I was working a gun show in Atlanta & the guy next to me worked in the crime lab in Atlanta - He said that they never have been able to trace a Remington Stinger bullet - they deform so much they can't trace them.

I'll look & see if i don't have a pix some place of one of the PPK's i did. I should a pix of my personal one - unless the boss here gets mad if we talk about guns? - Tom

Here's a really bad picture of a picture - this is one of those guns i wished i hadn't sold - i just engraved down each side of the slide - thats all it needed - tom

From what I can tell, the detail on the pistol looks incredible. I can understand if you don't want to do a stainless PPK if that type of steel has given you problems before. I'm just really impress with your work and you're right about the PPK being a great carry weapon. While it looks very nice as is, I'd like to spice it up with something the caliber of your work.

There's a guy about two hours south of me who does some of the best and most intricate filework I've ever seen and he has done a few pistols. I may go that route (one day).

But to anyone who hasn't clicked on Tom's website link.....you're missing it. Beautiful!
