Mason Dixson Show

Post by galvanic1882 »

Can anyone tell me about the Mason Dixson show in Maryland that is coming up in April?? How big is the show and what types of knives are there usually, old knives or is the show mostly new or custom knives?? It's about 5 hours drive for me and I would like to know more before I make the drive.

Thanks Mike

Mike,

It's not a large show, but bigger than Lewisburg was last year ( didn't make it there this year ). It's maybe about the size of Easton.

Russell, Bill Goodman, and I have gone to the Mason-Dixon for the past 3 years and I thought it was a good show for old knives. We've both made some good scores on Saturdays although the show starts on Friday afternoon.

I got a nice Wolfertz box there for $10, and Rusty1, well......we won't even talk about him !

If it's meant for me to have it, it'll still be there.

I'll talk about me LOL. I've come away with some good stuff each time. The best was our last visit! Both Fran and myself were hanging waiting for Bill to finish his rounds, so I thought I would take one more look arounf myself. I saw it slipped in amongst a long row of knives in a glass case, asked if I could take a look. The vendor says, are I think you know what that is!! I looked at it for a while knowing that usually what they fetch on e-bay is much more than I would pay for an example. So how much are you looking for, I said...........$60.00 I could not get my hand in pocket fast enough, a Schrade 2OT which in the condition this was (excellent plus) would easily fetch between 275-350 or more, fairly rare and the original Schrade Old Timer, two blade Jack with smooth bone handles, first made in 1959............Frans face was a picture!!

Long time no see Mike!

This is a very enjoyable show - a great bunch of guys who don't try to burn you up on prices . It will probably be a little chilly in the old barn-like building since they are having it so early this year (Apr. 8&9) , so dress accordingly . Usually a lot of rare and unusual pieces can be found there . I will be set up with five or so tables - it gives me a good excuse to come up and visit my daughter who lives 20 or so miles from the fairgrounds . It is well worth the 6 hour trip for me as I usually bring back as much as I sell .

Nice Schrade! ::drool::

I went to this show last year and it was my first knife show. Everyone there was friendly and helpful, I ended up trading a knife I had doubles of for one I didn't have. Yes, it was chilly.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!
