I have an old Shrade knife, is says Shrade USA SC583 and has Shrade Scrimshaw on the blade. The scrimsahw picture is a Large ish and has the name LJorgienne (?) scripted beside it and a very tiny fish right above it. I have not been able to find one like it on the internet. It is a one blade knife and it is in very good condition. It either belonged to my Dad or Grandfather not sure. From what I can find out is was manufactured after 1973. Not looking to sell, just want to know more about it, if it's a collectible and how much it might be worth.

Your knife was made around 1979 and sold new for approx $15 . On todays market if it is in "mint" condition it would be valued at $30 +/- .
P.S. You have the best "username" on this forum !

The signature is the signature of the artist who did the majority of Schrade’s scrimshaw pictures. It is the signature is of Frank Giorgianni Sr.

Thanks for the info on the signature! Even with a magnifying glass I couldn't read it that well (old eyes!) Also, with the magnifying glass, it does look like SC503 instead of SC583!

LOL,
I didn't read it off a knife, but I have a certificate for a knife he hand engraved and it is more legible there.

Looking at the Schrade Scrimshaw Chart on page 166 in Levine's 4th, it shows the SC503 was made from 1979 to 1996. It shows the Pike was released in 1993. Yours appears to have the carbon blades (no + after SCHRADE in the stamp). I would figure the 1993 version to have been issued with a stainless streel blade, but who knows. That liner lock is a nice trapper pattern. It shows a Gar in 1981, but that fish looks like a Pike to me.

That is definately a Pike and that is the 1993 SC-503.
Too bad those Scrimshaws never really took off like Schrade expected. Guess it's because they really aren't Scrim Shaw but Hot Stamps. Great knife just the same and I would keep it for the sentimental value no matter what...course I am very Partial to Schrades and would keep it just because it is a Schrade USA Knife!
Thanks for posting & welcome to the Best Knife Site on the web!
