I like the 1983-86 Schrade Heritage knives.
All USA Heritages are welcome, I've seen some after 1986
with different handles and brass shields.
The 1983-86 knives seem to be a high water mark from their
special packaging to their long list of special features.
Blue hinged top box comes with gold cloth lining and inspector's
certificate as well as warranty papers.
Outer white sleeve has pattern number & color code on one end.

Knives have polished bone handles in choice of 3 colors:
red, green or brown.
Other features include fluted bolsters, dated Empire style
shield, polished springs, liners, and primary's mark side
w/Everlastingly Sharp logo.
Special Heritage over Schrade+ over N.Y. U.S.A tang stamp
with unique Heritage model number on reverse tang.
Apparently 2661 Barlow was changed to the 2331 Jack for
'85-'86 and unconfirmed rumor is no green barlows in '84.

That's about all I know about '83-86 Heritages, hopefully
this thread will reveal even more information.

Most recent finds include the 8341R which completes my
3 color set for the 34 size stockman:

A 7801G muskrat that replaces one I recently gave a cCc muskrat collector for his Bday

And a 2941G trapper since it was right there, complete, and it
ships free w/the other two.

Love that series. I really like that muskrat! I dont know much more than wqhat you already said but they are some pretty knives.

Nice idea for a thread Wosey. Nice write up on the series. You have some pretty bone on yours. Mine are a varied set, and only the muskrat has matching scales. On the others, the back and front are quite a different shade. Here is the 8041, the whittler pattern:

It is a fun group to seek. I found them all over a three year stretch, never having to pay a premium price for a premium, well made made nostalgic Schrade.

Real Knice Lineup there Thawk.
After I got my first one (2661R red barlow)
I was hooked.
As you said, a premium grade knife that apparently
isn't on many folk's radar.
Which suits me fine since still several left to find.
Seems to me more 1983 and 1986 dated knives
than '84 or '85.
Mismatched handles? No Prob, that's what Krylon is for.

Here my other two 8341 stockmans.

Tom, that's a great looking Set thanks for posting it.
I saw a 1985 set several years ago that was a counter top display
style with plastic window over red felt instead of the gold lined
case like your 83-84 set.

With the blue top knife boxes, after 25+yrs it's not unusual for
the top piece of gold felt to turn to dust.
Never have seen the bottom piece dry rot, maybe difference of
lower mounted on paper, top piece attached to foam, or
difference in adhesives.

I finally found a matching material at a local fabric shop.
Still haven't perfected my technique, think I need better
cutting tools, new glasses, decent workbench, and a third
arm sticking out of my chest.
Not necessarily in that order either.

All three latest boxes had dry rot problem so I did my best
with current level of ability & tools.
This time around best scissors avaialble for the knife cutouts
were on a SAK Classic SD.

I can't find my pics of the Heritage series that I have at the moment.
I will have to post some when I get back from the OKCA show next week.
But for now, I am scrambling to get ready for Friday.
A 3-day show is lots of work!

Here are the 2661 barlows.
Last one factory goof or AFP (assembled from
parts) post 2004?

Frame all Heritage but has an SC blade instead
of Heritage tanged blade (no polished mark side
or Everlastingly Sharp trademark logo).

Man, those Schrade Heritage Edition knives are probably the nicest looking Schrades I've seen. I like 'em a lot ::drool::Love the smooth bone

I am fortunate enough to have two of those 83'-84' Red Bone Heritage Sets!

Keeping one for trading..gonna have to be the right knife/set for a trade though...these are beauties
