Book says that stamp was used up until 1915. That is an earlier one

Actually, to be clear, it's a etch, not a stamp, and there is more etching that is difficult to read.

Does that change anything? ......... old knife, huh.....

Sharpens very easily, holds a very good edge. It will tarnish and spot more than stainless, but not nearly as bad as carbon. This is what I have noticed with all the Case CV I have had and used. Smoke

IF any of you kitchen knife fanatics that like that old CASE XX of mine, I like pocket knives more than kitchen knives.

Here is another Case kitchen knife that is similar to the one I previously posted in April 2011.

This one is in the French style with the "bolster?" at the handle. I like to use this style of knife and found it unusual for Case to make a knife like this. The handle tang is even slightly tapered. Very rigid blade.

Someone put it to a grinder.

I almost wonder if Case didn't buy some of these from Europe?

Would someone care to date this stamp? It is on a bull-nose butcher with a 14 inch blade made of what seems to be saw-blade stock. Nice single swedge. 6 small pins in the early style. Couldn't get it all under my scanner.

I have an empty knife block pm if interested. Will post pics later.
