All About Pocket Knives

Good day to all who reads this add. I am not an avid knife collector but I had stumbled accross a nice vintage Schrade knife and I am hoping that some one could help me I.D. the aprox year it was made and and maybe an estimate of the value of this particular blade. Thanks for your help I would greatfuly aid anyone in collectible fishing lures in return. I don't know how that cat got in there!

Good looking knife and good looking cat, too. Wish I knew something about the knife, but other more knowledgeable folks will probably be along.

Antique fishing lures would be too easy to get interested in so I'm not even going to go there...

Hi - Pretty nice older Schrade

You're in the 1917-1946 range

With the Schrade Cut Co's, it helps to look them up when you have the length, closed.
If you post that, someone should be able to (mostly) nail it down.

Could be from 1934 catalog, model 1147 3/4. Is it 5" closed?

Schrade cut granddads barlow as stated pre 46 approx. sawcut bone version. Saw one go at an auction locally a couple of months ago for under 50 bucks I had just come out of the bathroom and missed it . Should bring a hundred to 150 in good times now who can figure . Can only go by looks in pic on condition. At one time they would bring 300 them days are a while back. Late thirtys or early mid fortys probably 40 tys. I pay 50 to 75. But I do not pay retail. I can't since I also sell. Nice knife great user and that is a dandy pussycat I like cats a lot better than most people like a good knife you always know how they will respond when treated correctly they are loyal and won't let you down . That Schrade is over 65 years old and it is still just as true to its toil as the day it was made. So my advise is forget what it is worth put it in your pocket and enjoy the feel of a well made american pocket worn tool ( I mean aside from the one you have carried all your life) in your pocket chances are it will out last you me and the cat. That carbon steel they used then will razor up in about 4 strokes on a hone and last through skinning one perhapes 2 large animals. You wont get that with a ten dollar gook special. LT
