whatsit?

here is an object i found today at a garage sale...
anyone care to guess it's use?

that yellow stick in the background appears to made of plastic and is used to measure inches and feet, also small meter increments

Kinda resembles a micrometer, with the graduations on the cylinder. Could possibly have been a part of a measurement jig. We used them in the metal stamping industry. There was a metal fixture you placed the finished part on, and then it had little plungers like the one pictured all over it that were supposed to fit into certain holes on the finished part.
An intricate form of a GO/NO GO gage.
Not certain that is it, but it sure looks familiar....

it is a jig for faceting gemstones...
the triangle is adjusted to the angle you desire, you set the triangle portion on the bench section of your polisher, the stone is set onto the polishing surface...and away ya go...

if ya look close...the end of this tool has a fire opal attached to it...
