gringo, that is classic! :lol: :lol: It reminded me of an evening a few years back when I was out in the horse stall brushing down ole Gunsmoke. It was duskothirty too and we were havin a good ole brush down bonding type moment when out of the corner of my eye comes this black cat with a white stripe down her back. ::paranoid:: ::paranoid:: Understand now that Gunsmoke was about as skiidish an equine as you would ever come across. On top of that, momma was carrying a little baby right on her back. Momma skunk and her hitch hiking baby came within about 4 feet of me an ole Gunsmoke. I was trapped in the back of the stall with nowhere to run. ::uc:: I loved that horse, but if I had had an out of that stall, ole Smokey would have been fending for himself! ::uc:: As it turned out, I managed to get around the other side of Gunsmoke so he was a runnin interference for me. Very slowly coaxed him into walking out the stall and we both made it unscathed. Momma skunk just looked at us like we were nuts, never raised her tail, waited until we were both out of the corral, then continued on her quest across my pasture. Me an Gunny were sweatin bullits fer a time though. Well, I never got Gunsmoke to admit it, but I was sure afeared for a spell! ::ds:: ::ds::

Seriously though, True Story ::mdm::

Those polecats can sure create an "atmosphere" that lasts quite a while. My cousin had a momma skunk take up residence under his house and raise a litter of babies. Not sure what set them off but apparently several of them got "excited" at the same time and he ended up having to have his house fumigated before he could return home. They ended up losing a lot of personal items and clothing that were just too smelly to keep around.

Gringo maybe you should consider an earlier feeding schedule? :lol:

Glad you and Smoke both emerged unscathed.

Phil

Years ago when my kids were young, we lived way out in the country on a farm and I commuted about 65 miles one way to work daily. To do this economically I drove a little Honda Civic. I was headed home about 7 PM one evening just after dusk, I rounded a corner, downshifted and put my foot in it for the straight stretch. The road ahead of me was clear, …… that is until part of the white center line veered away from the rest of the paint line directly in front of my car.
I held my breath and said “Please don’t raise your…......”
All I heard was a THUNK. ::facepalm::

I got home and parked at the end of our driveway. My wife came to the door and said, “Why did you park way down ….OH! I see.”

Ya’ gotta admit, skunks have the perfect camo for walking right down the center line of blacktopped roads. :lol:
