so...i sent dale some knives that i really did not want to work on...and knew he like them...
no problem right?

well...dang hippie forgot were dale lived...right on the southern edge of potlatch country...
so, i receive five penny's for the knives...and the ulster he modified...and i love this knife...

the potlatch was an economic and cultural system to redistribute goods...no they were not commies... a rich culture living in a rich environment...
a "chief" lack of better word) would have a party...invite the neighborhood, clans or others...give the guests presents...now, here is where it becomes interesting...the higher rank in the village one was...the greater the present given...
some people were known to improvish themselves and family to give gifts...
the greater the gift..the greater the honor the greater responsibility to the receiver, to give a party and present even greater gifts to the guests...

distributed goods among the villages nicely till the northern Europeans and Russians arrived...

now while i sent dale a few old rusty knives...he sends this beautiful ulster custom....

now my tiny little brain is searching for a greater gift...
wicked circle...
