All About Pocket Knives

After a lot of hard work, orvet has assembled and submitted a most excellent resource for Schrade knife collecting.

I wanted to post it here right away for those interested in viewing / using it. I'll be putting this in the research section among other places as soon as time permits.

I want to give a great big thanks to Dale for sharing it with us. Thanks Dale!

Dale you saved me the trouble of trying to put together this information for myself. I'm sure Shrade collectors new and old will thank you for this timely piece of work, but now how will I ever be able to put together a collection when everyone knows what to look for.

Fortunately, I have most of the models on the list, except some of the rarer ones, such as the 2OT, 44OT and several of the rarer ones. The focus of my collecting has shifted to earlier knives and some of the companies that spawned Schrade, like Ulster.

I am glad you enjoyed the list. I hope to add Uncle Henrys next.

The first name for the 194OT was the "Pocket Lock Blade" (see 1978 Line Catalog copy below).

In 1979 it was called "Pocket Lockblade", lockblade being one word instead of two. (see pic)

By the 1987 Shortline Catalog it was called the "Gunstock Trapper Lockback" (see scan from 1987 Shortline). The name remained the "Gunstock Trapper Lockback" through 2004.

I included "linerlock" in the description as it is the locking mechanism used on the knife.

I used the most recent name for the pattern as it is the name most people know it by. I hope this clears up any confusion.
A number of patterns had their names changed. I have noted it on some of them, but frankly that was not a priority when I was listing them. I listed the info if I had it already in my data base.

Here is a 194OT (just in case someone hasn't seen one) with one of his slightly larger brothers, just for comparison. Hopefully you can see the brass linerlock Dale referred to in his post above.

Above the 194OT, is a 296WC (wood...crimson) made for some of the big box stores.
