All About Pocket Knives

Well this morning started out normal..Leave the house at 6:00 am to drive the 45 mile trek to work. I live in a small rural town (two redlights) and my job site is 23 miles away from the nearest gas station.

At about the 35 mile mark into my trip to work, I was cruising at about 70 mph when a wild boar hog of about 275 lbs decided to cross my path from the right hand side of the road. With no time to move or react I felt the impact of the hog as my 4 door Tundra smacked into the vile beast..

The next thing I know I am driving at about 65 mph with a white blanket over my face which turned out to be the truck airbag. I slowed down and pulled over to the side of the road, my truck was still running great but after a little inspection of the right front of my truck I discovered that most of "it" was wrapped around and on top of my front tire.

Mixed in the mess was Boar Hog and Boar Hog Doo. This was at about 6:45 am so it was still dark in my area. The odor was bad enough with mangled hog all over but the real stink was the expelled airbag. That gas mixture they use to shoot off airbags is the "stankiest" stuff known to mankind and must be the same lethal stuff used to shoot off the space shuttle ..

Anyhow I slowly drove the Tired Tundra to my job site and later in the morning drove it to Toyota's body shop..He called this afternoon with the preliminary price of $5,600.00 with more items not counted yet...

So this weekend when you are eating that rib or pork sandwhich bite that sucker a little harder and help me get my revenge..

And no I did not get the meat from the hog, it was a skanky stinky boar hog and not edible for human consumption...

Glad to hear that you made it none the worse except wallet injury. Must be a bad time of year for Toyota trucks, Mine suffered spontaneous internal combustion dec 28 and was a total. It was parked in my driveway at the time.

Hey WB tell me about your spontaneous combustion, I have never heard that before on Toyota trucks. I am terribly sorry to hear that terrible news. Does anybody have an idea of what happened...??

Thanks guys...Damn hogs..I could not get anything off the hog MM by the time I got back to the area where the hog was killed the buzzards had done their work. That's ok though, I have one hanging in my office that looks prehistoric with cutters that still send chills down my neck...

Had been home about 30 minutes. Was talking to wife, heard a poof shhhh said to espoused, sounds like a blow out. Walked outside and the truck engine compartment was engulfed. I kept water on it til F/D arrived.
The Fire Marshall says it's is not all that uncommon. Probably caused by a leak of some volitile fluid. It started at driver side front of engine. All of the fluids Gas,Hyd,oil have lines there. A drip on block as it heated up after I shut down the engine probably caused ignition, Personally I think SIC sounds better.

Sorry to hear about your run in with the hog. If it makes you feel better I was in Texas with a few of my hunting bud's from the 9th to 13th and we "justified your loss" on a pile of his relatives. We dont have hogs up here but we did talk about how bad one would mess up a truck if you hit it. I guess you gave me a dollar value to tell my friends. Good luck with getting your rig back together,

Came up on an accident back in the mid-90's, just East of Breckenridge, TX. About sun-up a Lady and 4 kids, driving into the sun, in an S-10 blazer. They hit a 400+ lb hog at about 80 mph. No survivors...

Sorry about your loss,but the fact is a male boar can be cooked in a crock pot and it IS edible.I shot one that is looking at me as I write this [ he DEAD,DEAD,DEAD ] But he tasted pretty good after 8 hours in the crock with some bourbon in for taste.And I too hate the airbag stuff,but it saved my butt a few times.Good luck gettin your vehicle back.
