All About Pocket Knives

Here is a Robeson Shuredge jack I got off the bay. It has a nice full blade with a lot of rust pitting all over the knife, bolsters & blades.
The pen blade had been cut down into a sliver, the seller called it a pipe tool, but I am not sure. I think that was the best he could come up with. If a pipe smoker needed that tool very often, he needed to learn to pack his pipe right!

Given the full blade, nice bone and hard snap on the main blade I decided it was worth saving.

Here is the result:
It makes a nice slim pocket friendly knife, with a wicked sharp edge.

That's great! I can't believe someone used the pen blade that much but not the main. Is that going into your shop?

I think I will give it to my Dad, it is his birthday and he likes small knives with carbon steel blades.

I had a little time and my hands were bothering me so I thought it would be an easy project.
I did it in about 2 hours or a little less and it did not require a lot of detail work with my hands.
It was a fun little project for a day when I was not up to doing harder tasks like hafting the handles to fit the bolsters.

That's a jewel. Robeson sure did a fine job of jigging bone.

My folks were here and we got so busy with Christmas, grandkids & great grandkids, I forgot to give him the knife.
He is still really partial to the West Cut I gave him that I put stag handles on.

Oh well, the Robeson has some pitting in the blade anyway.

Unless a previous owner needed it as a leather punch, that small blade looked pretty useless. With it and that extra backspring gone, I'll bet it rides real nice in the pocket now. Those reclaimed oldies make the best users and that one sure is a looker now. Nicely done Dale!

It is nice and slim, low profile, but if has more snap than I like in a knife; it even snaps at the half stop. It is too hard on my fingers and probably too hard for my dad too. We both have arthritis in our hands and neither of us like a knife with real hard snap.

Does anyone have a West Cut 336 they would like to trade for the Robeson?
