All About Pocket Knives

This is my first pocket-knife. I found it in a Gun Shop in downtown Sydney Australia back in 1973!
This New then, Old now, knife is stil my every day user. It has only been used for light work over the last 39 years.
The Walden 881 was the start to my collection of US made Schrade knives and tools...

My first 4" knife and the latest 4" in my collection .

Very nice! Sort of like book-ends for your knife collection and they pair well together.

I like that Red Bone 8OT. All of your 4" knives are very collectible.
This 8OTC is a nice looking knife...
I also like the Buck 301 made by Schrade, I have 5 of them.
The 886UH was made by Camillus..

Seeing that I'm an electrician this is my favorite Schrade four incher

My two favorite and best 4" schrades are this early walden 881 and an elusive cut 8813
This cut 8874 is as good as a carry knife gets, even with the ugly cracked ice celluloid. It's held up all these years though. The round bolster 4" frame did not last long in the delrin/swinden era
My favorite swinden era 4" knives are the 1985 red bone 8ot's and the heritage 8801's. I have added a nice red 8801 since this picture. All are from the first heritage series in 1983.

I believe, the 1985 Red Bone 8 OT is the best finished 4" knife, Schrade made.
The 1961 Saw Cut Bone 8 OT is also a nice knife... Ken

There are some REALLY nice Schrades in this thread ! 4" stockmans are one of my favorite patterns to collect. There's so many of them - it's a never ending hunt -

Those are definitely some scarce ones.

Not as scarce but you don't see these too often. Wavy bone match pull 881.

If I ever see one in mint condition this will be one of my GRAIL knives. But this one is not bad.

This one probably goes back to the 1920s. I am hoping to get the spring fixed some day because I REALLY like the knife.

Here's another old one.

Cut 8813 SS. The spring for the main blade has a crack in it right by the pin but still snaps ok and functions, at least until it doesn't. Other than that it's decent besides all the scratches. The small blades snap nice and hard.

Cal those last two you posted look like they could be older than the first catalog!

A walden 879.

I like this thread.

I wanted to show this one (probably again?) because of some unusual characteristics. I believe it to be one of the very first 8OTs ever made. It has milled liners and the shield appears to be a prototypical shield that never was adopted in the final decision to run the bone 8OTs, which are generally assumed to be confined to the 1959-1961 period.

Now THAT is my kinda knife!

How about a peachseed 880

Anyone who has handled these will know how much of a chunk of steel the main blade is. It makes the saber ground buck 301 seem like a little toy blade. (Not that either of them cut worth a flip, but they look good).

Yes, they DO look good. I wouldn't have minded picking up that last spendy one on the Bay.
