i got this old bottle gave to me yesterday by my sister i thought it was pretty cool and wanted to show everybody it reads garrett & co inc established 1835 virginia dare wine reg us pat off refilling prohibited new york sorry about the pics but its hard to take a picture of clear glass

In Australia old "oil bottles" (50 years old) often sell for over $1000.
Old "GAS" (petrol) signs often sell for $500-$5000

I have collected a few old bottles over the years and have done some research about them.
From the pictures, your bottle doesn't look to be that old. Maybe from the fifties or sixties.
It looks to have a screw top cap which is a sign it is not that old. can't be sure though from your pictures.
If you could post or PM me better pictures of the top cap area (cap or cork removed) and especially the bottom of the bottle.
I could give you a better idea of the age and what it may be worth.
Post or PM any numbers on the bottom of the bottle also. And also if the bottle has any casting seams running up it.
Condition is very important also.
Any chips cracks or scratches?

A bottle from the late 1800's would look like this one posted below.
Hand blown blob top with lots of air bubbles in the glass.
Found this old beer bottle 30 years ago in an old abandon shack on some property my Uncle owned in upstate Pennsylvania.
Wine bottles from that era look somewhat similar but sometimes have a cork.

Yep, I hate to burst your bubble after reading what some of those bottles mentioned were sold for but you might get 5-10 bucks for it on a good day.
I collect some myself and know a little about them. Here is a few I have in the hallway leading to my garages.
Virginia Dare was also a pop.

I think the design patent #101182 means it had to be after 1936. If im understanding this chart correctly. Maybe someone will know for sure.

Yeppers, I noticed that.

Did a little research.
The Pat. Date is correct for after 1936.

This is just a guess from what I researched.
I think your bottle is from the 50's or 60's.
The cap would be made of zinc and show no signs of rust if it were from WW 2 era.
Like someone stated earlier in this post, It's probably only worth $5 if anything.
But it should have value to you because your Sister gave it to you.

ya i would never sell it cause my sister gave it to me but i was mostly woundering when it was made and all you guys really helped me out so thanks everybody for all the info
