Hi all my name's Cody and I'm from Northern michigan.
Recently my grandpa passed away and I am the only one with any interest in history so I have the task of sorting and selling off some 30 years of hording. Among this stuff is literally 900+ knives and any help I could get to start me on the way of knowing general rules to find good ones over junk (aside from tossing any made in china ones). would help me immensely.
Allready done some research and have a small eBay store going :
http://stores.ebay.com/The-Grizknapper-Legacy
The knives on there are primarily buck as those are prevalent.
I would appreciate any help in guiding me on this path, and If the help here yields fruit I would like to save some of the best for users of this site over random ebayers.
Thanks again, Cody.

You had better start reading and buying a few books with the appropriate information. It's all on here somewhere if you go through the threads. Good luck and enjoy your sorting. Sounds like heaven to me. You'd better list faster on E-bay as well or you'll be at it for years.

Yeah lol, I have to find the books but those are under piles of stuff. did find another 20 cigar boxes full of semi sorted knives and another 30 gal tote i havent even touched yet. Have another 10 going up on ebay at 2 pm. a '71 puma, a v4 buck 110 and a few older 501's and 303's. Its fun and it does in a way make me feel closer to gpa, but damn is it alot of work.

If you have that much you'd better get some more family in to help if they're getting a cut too. Your Grandpa sounds like my sort of hoarder. Good luck and post as much as you like. People here are more than willing to help and advise. A very trustworthy lot.

Cody, first of all, sorry about the passing of your grandpa.
It sounds like he would have fit in with all the knife crazies here at this site.
Be sure to keep some of his knives as family heirloom items that can be passed down in the future.
Oh, I almost forgot,

to aapk.

Welcome to AAPK Cody.
If you have a knife you need to ask questions about, post a couple of good clear photos of it and let folks know what you need to find out. You will see that this bunch is always willing to help.
