All About Pocket Knives

Here's a knife I picked up for a dollar at a yardsale last year. I got only one hit when I Googled it. The dealer was selling this exact knife for $12.99 with free shipping but he had none in stock. There was a good picture but no written description or country of origin. It looks like a Chinese knife, it feels like a Chinese knife. Maybe I've answered my own question. What happened to the law that required foreign products to be marked with country of origin. I thought that law had been in effect since around 1891. I've noticed a lot of the new knives at the markets that aren't marked. Is this a Chinese knife? Does anyone know how they get away without marking country of origin? Thanks, Al

Some have a very light etch that can be rubbed off, and some even have a "China" sticker.

I bought one of these, a different handle, 6 or 7 years ago from a guy that had a whole duffel bag full of them at a flea market for $8 each.

It had a paper sticker on it, made in China

Thanks for the information guys. I guess passing that law 130 years ago was a waste of time and paper. I figured the knife was made in China when I bought it and for $1, I'd buy another one - it actually works pretty good. Wouldn't it be nice if every knife maker would stamp the tang with the country where the knife was made. Thanks, Al
