All About Pocket Knives

I won this knife in an auction on ebay, I haven't seen this type of wood handle on a Schrade before. Seller said the they are oak, but I can't be sure of that. It is the same size and style as the Old Timer 104OT. The tang stamp just reads SCHRADE + , next line USA LTD. I'm assuming it is from the later years, perhaps post 2000 but that is just a guess. Can anyone help me out with some info on this little knife? I don't have it in hand yet, but I sure do like the looks of it...

The LTD tang stamp was used on Special Factory Order knives, Anniversary issues, etc. For example, many wooden knives were made for Ducks Unlimited. Sears had wooden handled knives in their Craftsman line, but they used their own Craftsman stamp, not the LTD. With no shield or blade etch, I would assume the knife you won is one that did not get completed.

I like it. it has a vintage look.

Thanks for the replies fellas. What do you think the chances are that the wood is actually oak? I have heard of Schrade using birchwood, pakkawood, rosewood.....is there any way for me to know for sure? Another thought I had is that the knife may have been re-handled...? With the blades being in such good condition though I suppose that is unlikely though...

If you look at the 2004 mini catalog posted on Collectors of Schrade website:

and scroll down to page 8 or 9 you will see the SDU104 listed. That is your knife except the one in the catalog has the shield and blade etch that yours does not have.
They were indeed made with oak handles.

Was just poking around on ebay and found this auction for the same knife, this one comes with a certificate of authenticity that says it was part of the final production run in 2004 at the Schrade factory in Ellenville NY. So I guess now I have my information!

That looks a lot like oak to me.
