All About Pocket Knives

My dad graduated from High School in the middle of WWII at the age of 17. He immediately enlisted in the Merchant Marine and served in Atlantic convoy duty until the war in the west ended, then in the Pacific until that theater ended. He came home, entered Duke University and earned his B.A., and later got a calling and went to seminary and was ordained a Methodist minister. Along the way, the Navy grabbed him for Korea and he served in that conflict as a NCO radio operator on a destroyer escort. Today I got an email from him with the following link to T-2 Wood Lake, his first ship after he completed his Merchant Marine training. It's a handsome example of the type of tanker built by the hundreds during the war. But looking at it hull down in the second picture, I'll bet it was a wet boat when the seas were running.
