All About Pocket Knives

Quite a few months back, Chet sent me a few knives to work on. He was extremely patient with my procrastination and laziness, but eventually, I got these finished.

Chet was also very flexible with what he wanted on the knife. Other than a few preferences, he left the rest to my choice. I hope he was pleased with the work.

This first one was a TL-29 reno. Here's a before picture:



He wanted to keep both blades and the liner lock, and wanted a thong hole. The rest was my choice. Here's the finished work:







As always, I forgot to take in-progress pics. Oh well...

The hardware is all nickel silver (pins, hole) and the scales are Coolibah. Nice interesting pattern.

The other he sent me was this Boker:



I think he said that someone had worked on it before, but he didn't like the scales on it anymore.

Again, Chet had a few ideas, and I think I captured most of what he wanted:

As you can see, I left the shield off. I had intended to use it, but as I had not had much experience with them, I just wasn't feeling the vibe when it came time to try it.

The scales are smooth amber from Culpepper. I am constantly amazed by the quality of their product. There were a few natural pits in the bone, but rather than grind the scales down to nothing to remove them, I left them in. It adds character, I think.

Chet requested an easy-open notch. I wasn't sure I could make that happen with this layout, but after a small modification to the second blade, it worked out well, and really adds to the look. The blades were well used and fairly thin to begin with, so I didn't want to take too much off in cleaning out the scratches. That's probably the only thing I didn't like about the end product.

Chet, it was very gracious of you to allow me to share my work with everyone here. I truly hope he enjoys these knives.

That looks great Glenn.

The Camillus WWII Army jacks had the cutout right next to the bolster.
You might have been able to move the cutout even further toward the bolster to prevent a mod to the pen blade.

I am not sure where it looks the best, but I know yours looks great!

these two knives are a masterpiece. it was well worth the wait...and i am almost tempted to buff out the boker tang stamp and make the knife look like a true glennbad custom. but the boker is too nice especially with the boker tree on the reverse side of the spear. and that coolibah you used for the t29 is too stunning for pictures. thank you for showing them to everyone.. i would do that in a heartbeat.
