Question regarding GI Pocket Knife Pins

Are the pins on these stainless? If yes, does the stainless need to be annealed before spinning?

I got one of the carbide spinners from Camillus. One of their workers told me that anything beside brass & nickel silver (aka -white brass) were too hard to spin and stainless would wear out the spinners.novice wrote: "Perhaps pointing the ends of the SS pin after annealing makes all the difference when spinning?",
