All About Pocket Knives

I was thinking of all the SAK"s I have collected over the years, and I have a few that get carried more than most. It seems like more than 2 layers as an edc gets left home unless it's a camping trip or some other specialized activity that may need specific tools like a saw.

Of the 58, 84, 91 and 93 mm's, my 58mm classic is always on my keyring, so I can't leave the house without it. That little classic does a lot of work.

Next up is my 84mm 'small' tinker. Probably the most handy pocket knife ever invented.

Then my 93mm pioneer and farmer are my camping and canoeing knife. I don't go out in the boonies or nature without a SAK saw blade along. Sometimes my hker will go along instead. It gives me an extra knife blade as well as the saw.

You have your favorites?

I'd say probably the Tinker, although the Alox Pioneer is a pretty close second.

I NEED a saw,knife blade,and screwdriver @ least once a day. ....awl is handier than most might think too......

I can't much blame you, the exec is a great little sak for urban/suburban edc. Just enough bigger than a classic, and with the great scissors and two knife blades, small enough to not raise any eyebrows in a urban environment. Even NYC safe!

Only ever carries The Classic, so that's it........

This might be my new favorite. Only time will tell but I really like the large locking blade and saw. At 111mm it is relatively slender and light weight for it's size and feels comfortable in the back pocket. The only thing missing is a lanyard but that will be added soon enough.

The fact that it is in brand new condition and I paid less than 20 bucks puts it over the top!

I left my pioneer behind this morning do not feel fully dressed without it.

Rambler It's tiny in the Pocket and has all the tools I need!

Wosey, I bet my wife has washed that little Rambler at least 100 times through years! I just dry it off and stick it back in my pocket.

For the past month I've been rotating a recruit and a bantam in my pocket. Both are light weight knives, but the bantam is slight it's like the Opinel in that you don't know it's in your pocket until you need it. The combo tool is a miracle of design in that it can be used to deal with both flat and phillips screws, as well as open cans and bottles. Of all the SAK tools, the combo tool may be the most versatile.

But I still love the classic on my keyring.

My favourite is the Forester/Rucksack and the Climber. Sometimes the Forester is EDC for me.

Since it's the only one I have, I guess this left handed Wenger would be my favorite. I think somebody told me it's a cyclists knife.

While I am not a lefty myself I find these knives interesting. Funny though the symbol looks like he cut his hand off!

Before I found out it's a left handed knife, we were calling it a proctologists knife.

Stopped by ACE Hardware today and checked out their knife display. Been interested in obtaining an ALOX Cadet, they had one which I bought. Going to EDC it and see what I think. OH

i like those too.....have you ever tried the "pioneer" or my favorite "farmer"??????
blades are made a lil stouter...and tools are tough as nails!!!
and hard to beat the "farmer's" saw blade!!!!!

Please do let us know what you think, Colonel. I've been staring at the orange ALOX Cadet for a good bit now and it looks like it may be a little small. Short and thin. I'd like to know your opinion.

jerry IMHO you are right on the money....
cadet = too small and thin for my taste.
the next step up to the "pioneer" frame is WAY BETTER.....AGAIN JUST MY OPINION.
i have around 8 cadets in diff. colors.....and i do favor the orange!
