All About Pocket Knives

Well finally, after almost 2 years of planning and countless hours of hands on time over the past 6 months, I finally managed to finish my first custom leverlock auto!
Coined brass liners with brass bolsters, pins and lock/release button. Fileworked 1095 (swedged) blade and backspring. And genuine Sambar Stag slabs. It turned out fast, tight and solid as a rock.

Thanks Glenn, this one is all me.
I had done a restore on a Bonsa Springer awhile back. I learned from it how they work. I also made a template of the blade, then used the template to design a blade to fit this style of knife. I think from that same template, I could probably design several different patterns of knives by just changing the shape of the blade, but using the same basic tang layout. I'd like to try and do a leverlock auto in a 5" toothpick pattern someday.

Not too ambitious though, the leverlock's are a fairly simplistic design, alot simpler then the press button knives.
I'll get step by step pics on the next one and post 'em. I should've done it with this one, but it was so long and drawn out, and I was never real sure what the next step was. Should be a little easier on the next ones.

you're thinking of hatch cutlery. Korn's patent was a big cokebottle bolster release auto

Kaleb, I was thinking of the Hollweg patent. Someone had posted it being used on a "Korn" knife and that's what I saved it as.
I've only seen a couple of pics of a Korn's Patent knife. I wouldn't even know where to begin! Reckon i'll just stick with the leverlocks for now. Unless you want to donate a Korn's Patent for me to tear down and examine.

I think LT has a couple Korns.

plenty of pics floating around. the release mechanism is a PITA from what I hear from guys who've repaired them. Ones in poor condition can bring upwards of $1k. I've seen decent ones bring $2500 that still needed repairs.

Sound like very cool knives, but a picture of the outsides sure wouldn't do me any good. (other then to drool over!) I'd have to see a working model, then one apart, to see the inner workings. Or, at very least a blueprint of one. If they were easy to reproduce, you can bet somebody would already be doing it. (or, maybe they are? )
