Little native peaches. Picked 'em yesterday evening.


Skinned and gutted 'em this evening.


Cooked 'em down and canned 'em a while ago. Lids are popping down on 8 pints as I type.

Those really look good! If I had them, I might not have had any left for the jam....

Linnea buys peaches out of Georgia every year about this time. Pays a fortune for them but man are they good. Tree ripened sweet and chin drippin' juicy. She has a recipe for peach pie that just makes me want to die with my face in it.

She gave me about a half dozen last night when we met for dinner. I think I'm going to eat peaches until my mouth gets sore, then eat one more.

My little bride picked up some Fredericksburg peaches this week. They were also small this year and beat up by the hail storm but sweet as a mother's love!

Those came off one little lonely tree out in a pasture. Poor thing is all by its lonesome.

It is LOADED with those things.

Gonna go back and grab another bunch this evening before the birds have their way with 'em.

They're tiny lil fellers but sure sweet.

Jerry, I used to buy a couple of bushels pf those Georgia peaches when I trucked through that country every year. They are wonderful.

Weatherford, a small town just West of me has a lot peach growers. Haven't heard a word about theirs this year, but I don't need 'em. LOL

When I was just a little bitty thing, for a short while (probably just one season), my dad worked in a peach orchard in Southern Illinois (Gallatin County). I was just barely old enough to remember him bringing peaches home and how good they were. Spoiled me for store bought peaches.

My grandma (dad's mom) made a peach cobbler that couldn't be beat. She was a sour old thing but she sure could cook.

My granddaddy run a peach orchard until I was a teenager.
Those were the best peaches, Improved Elbertas, as I recall.

I remember being at the house when he cam up from the orchard with a trailer full of peaches behind the ol' tractor. He wouldn't let us kids touch them because we might bruise them, but he would give us some to eat until we had 'em coning out our ears!

Nothin' better than a dish of fresh peaches and cream!!!

Papa and Granny had a peach orchard at the farm when they were living there about 40 years ago. I remember picking peaches while standing in the back of the 1960 Chevrolet Apache pickup with bushel baskets and galvanized buckets all around us. Some times we would have more peaches than we could eat in two years, but we did our best to knock 'em out in one!

And the ABSOLUTE BEST WAY TO EAT FRESH RIPE PEACHES: freshly picked, peeled, sliced then cubed, piled in a ceramic bowl, sprinkled with sugar and then doused with heavy cream, or Borden's Half-n-half. Larrupin' good and it'd make ya slap yer pappy!
