The Scroll of Sorrow........................

This is something that I have been kicking around in my head for awhile now.As you may or may not know, most of the lettering done on my 1955 Pontiac Safari wagon is a tribute to artists whom I have either known or have had an influence in my life. The other is mostly sayings I have observed from my travels or have read or heard.
Anyway I got this idea for a panel that would pay homage to these people that are no longer with us and could be displayed at the various charity automotive art auctions I attend.I contacted a good friend and fellow artist to help me construct the panel.
It will be made from a sheet of aluminum approximately 24" wide and 4 ft long. The ends will be rolled to simulate an unfurling scroll and it will be painted the color of parchment and artificially aged around the edges. It will be displayed on a stand. The title of the panel will be the,"Scroll of Sorrow".It will list the names of the artists along with their birth and death dates.
In the meantime I took a section of a painted area on my car that somewhat resembled the shape I was looking for and over painted a scroll onto the fender.I then began to letter the names of artists on the scroll. So far I have managed to fill about half of the scroll and I know that I have barely scratched the surface. It is just my way of saying thanks to all the people I have known in the trade and those who have influenced me to become what I have today.
Here is a picture of the scroll as it stands today along with some detail shots of the other art work.Hope you enjoy it.
