It ranged between 103-109 in N. Ga. here yesterday per the local news. I clocked 104 here at the house and 112 on the therm in the truck while driving on Hwy-41 yesterday evening in a highly congested area. It was still in the 90's after 9pm. Luckily the humidity was only around 20% which is low for here any time of year.
Today is set to break the all time recorded temp history I guess that goes back to the 1800's.
It's an iced tea and AC kind of day. I didn't even try to go fishin', but I did hit a few yard sales early with no luck

.
God Bless those who have to work in this mess today.

Officially it was 105 at the airport in Aloca or Knoxville's airport. 100 in the shade here, pool temp is 92.
It feels good at night when the air temp goes down to 70.
Our corn looks like it is wilted. If I does not perked up by midnight.......I think I will hook up some soaker hoses.
Never had to do that in the 25+ years we been here.

Large sections of Chicago lost power and some are not going to get it back for up to a week. Thank goodness the storm went south of us.

I can relate Jethro ... we just had power restored, and are extremely fortunate at that, as there are thousands that will go without power until this coming weekend or longer. That storm was quick, massive and devastating. They are having to rebuild power stations in many neighborhoods here. Five people in our immediate area lost their lives as a result of downed trees/high winds.
We were very lucky/blessed...only lost a shutter and a few trees.

Oh, you bunch of wienies! We don't even turn on the A/Cs in Texas till it hits 100 outside!
Regarding the power outage back East, I did buy a generator after hurricane Ike came through in 2008. We went without power for two weeks in the hot, wet, steamy aftermath of the hurricane. I was calling all over looking for a generator - and Sears finally got some in stock, and I went down and purchased one for 750 freakin' dollars. Brought it home, put oil and gas in it, cranked her up.........and wouldn't you know it......the power came on an hour later.....
Story of my life....
Oh well - I will be prepared next time.....
