All About Pocket Knives

I lost it yesterday and cannot find it anywhere. I have retraced my steps and nothing.

I traveled about an hour to my sisters for a cook-out and to shoot some fire works in her cul-de-sak. The only other place was a gas station in route to her house. I was back home by midnight sans the wallet.

The credit and debit cards have now been cancelled and new ones are on the way. Once here I have to change my account numbers for bills, paypal etc.

I am looking at replacing my Drivers Lic, SS card, three hunting/fishing licenses (one in state, two out) etc. etc.

Some of those are going to be time consuming, involving trips to the dreaded governmental offices for reissue. Thank you homeland security.

The thing that really burns is the loss of the actual wallet it's self, that over 15 years of carrying this particular wallet, was like a part of me. The irreplaceable things that I carry in it for sentimental reasons. Things like a fishing pier permit that I saved from the last fishing trip I had with my deceased grandfather, had it since I was 14. A coin given to me by a childhood friend who is now gone as well. A concert ticket from a time in my life before any real responsibilities. Of course the pictures. There are more memories but they haven't come to mind yet. Every time they do it will be like another stab in the old sentimental heart.

I haven't lost a wallet since I was a kid. To tell you the truth I had no idea that it would actually be so upsetting. It is a real loss. It makes me sick to think of some less than honest person finding it, rifeling through it for anything of value and discarding the most priceless parts.

Cutty, that just sucks swamp water through a flavor straw. I feel your pain my friend. Somewhere around 10-12 years ago, I lost my "man purse" I picked up in Paris. The whole magilla. Passport, check book, DL, FOID, credit cards, etc, etc. Life didn't come to an end but for a while it felt like it had.

I feel your pain my friend;an event like that can be very traumatic.

I thought I had lost mine several weeks ago at a car show only to discover that it had fallen out of my pocket(I keep it in the top pocket of my bibs when I'm wearing them) when I had leaned into my car to retrieve something. I wasn't worried about credit cards as I have none but my bank card and my concealed carry permit were a problem.

It's a possibility that someone may find it and actually take the trouble to return it to you. I had that happen when I first moved to Michigan.

I had stopped at a yard sale in an abandoned parking lot where this guy had set up.I looked through some stuff he had and eventually bought a straw hat he had.

I got home and as I got into the house my phone rang(this was before cel phones were popular).A voice on the other end asked me if I was missing my wallet.When I checked and found it was he offered to drop it off to the house after he closed up shop.

He came over and returned it and I offered him a substantial amount of money for his good deed.He refused saying that maybe if I ever found myself in the same situation I would respond in kind.

Considering he was a stranger until that day and there was over $300 in cash in the wallet I thought that was pretty amazing.

We have since become great friends and he has a spot at the local flea marke which I frequent every weekend.He makes it a point to save out knives and tool boxes for me if he gets them and I will always pay him a fair price for them with no dickering. I have also encouraged others to buy from him as he treats all people fairly.

So maybe you will find it in the mail hopefully some time soon from a like minded person. They ARE still out there you know.

i know the feeling i lost mine last week had to do the credit and debit cards thing and my drivers licens and just now working on my ss card i did the same thing retraced my tracks but nothing was hoping that some honest person would see my info and mail it back to me but after a week i dont think that that is going to happen but i was able to find the exact same wallet on the bay even though its the same wallet it just not the same

knife7knut thanks for that incouraging story. I returned a found wallet several years ago. So hopefully karma is on my side and I will be on here praising it's return.

In the scheme of things it's just a danged old wallet and most of it's contents can be replaced. Luckily, memories are still intact even without the cherished irreplaceable reminders.

Cutty I've lost my wallet three times over the years. First time it was missing for several months before two kids found it and returned it to me with all the contents including a small amount of cash inside.

The second time it fell out of my back pocket as I got on the seat of my tractor and a friend later found and returned it to me with all contents intact.

The third time was last year. I'm reasonably certain that it fell out of my pants pocket while I was bush hogging my farm. (that darned tractor again) At any rate it's never shown up, nor have any of the credit cards or bank cards inside been used.

I lost my wallet about six weeks ago. Thankfully, the gas card and bank card were easily replaced, and I didn't have any pics or sentimental mementos in it.
