I cant find out what date they used what stamp.And I'm sure there is more tang stamps I did not list so if you no of one pleas list TY.

I'm pretty sure there is no dating as we find on Imperials. Unfortunately nothing exists that I know of....

Yep, TripleFm that's what I am finding on all fronts.I was hoping Maybe one of the guy's" bin the pro's they are"could tell me something about them.

I know at one point the name COLONIAL was in a curved half moon arrangement and then it moved to the flat line.

Goins` Encyclopedia dates the curved stamp: c. 1926 - 1938

I have a nice example of it - the clearest curved stamp I have ever encountered.
It is on a stockman that measures nearly 4 inches!

Good info thanks. First time I have herd of it.

In Scott's post on the Palco Forest-Master, chetr1200c posted a link that I've copied, to a Colonial Ranger Brand that is in script.

The later (1970's) "RANGER'' knives are stamped in block letters.

Goins` dates this script stamp to 1938... the first year of the shell handle knives made by Colonial.

I enlarged the pic of the stamp as large as possible while trying to keep fair resolution.

In Goins` book - there are quite a few images of the "markings" that were used by Colonial.
NOT ALL of these "markings" were tang stamps. Some are shields and others are blade stamps/etches.
Also, at least for the "Sure-Snap" image, it is from advertising... these autos were tang stamped in 3 straight lines:

Sure-Snap
Colonial
__ U.S.A.

The space ahead of "U.S.A." is cut-out for the lock and there is slight evidence of "Prov." being stamped there
before the lock notch was cut in the tang.

joe, whatever i post onto this site can be rehashed, mashed, deep fried, smoked, chilled, exorcised, enlongated, grinded, run over with a semi hauling parts of the sears tower, thown into a deep pool with heavy wieghts, or just plain old copied.

This knife has "Pat. Pend." under the stamp. It's most likely for the integral bolster/liner.
Unfortunately there no patent No.'s to go with it - hence Pat. "Pending." I don't recall ever seeing No.'s on these.
I'm REALLY bad with Google's Patent Search but maybe someone else has better understanding
of how to navigate around it.

Maybe use some key words like "integrated" or "integral" or anything else the one piece liner/bolster
may be called, and search Colonial Knife Company. IF the patent was granted - it will give us a date
for these solid construction - yet hollow tip bolstered knives!!!!!!?

Many companies made knives like this, so I don't know if the patent was even granted.
