All About Pocket Knives

Here's a link to a current ebay listing from one of our more "popular" sellers. I didn't want to post it in the counterfiet forum because I think most of the knife is legit. It's the Boy Scout shield that's throwing me, so I wanted to ask you devoted Schrade folks to take a look see and tell me your thoughts. Thanks.

I just saw one of those in a post on here within the last couple of days. I don't recall if it had the Boy Scout shield but that blade etch made a big impression on me. I'll look around and see if I can find it again.


Edit: Ah ha. Found it. The knife belongs to Rocky1122 (affectionately known as Squirrel) and it's on page 265 of the "WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?" thread.

Looks to me like the Boy Scout badge is a transplant. (I don't think the Squirrel will mind me borrowing his picture.)

Jerry, Rocky's knife doesn't appear to have a serial number engraved on it - wonder if there are two series? OH

I suppose that's possible.

I was just wondering where NYC Boy Scouts go to camp out and "rough it". The Bowery? Harlem? Staten Island? Long Island?

All you New Yorkers, I was just trying to be funny. I've been to New York several times. The City, L.I., Buffalo, Albany and north into the Adirondacks so I'm aware there's more to the state than the mean streets of The City.

I don't own this one anymore, but it also had a serial number.........

Here's another one that has a good close-up of the shield . I also think that the BSA shield is a replacement for the original sterling silver one .

I think the following (part of the listing Bob posted) resolves the question. Nothing at all to do with the Boy Scouts.

Thanks for the response. You've confirmed what I suspeced, a transplanted shield. I just hope some unsuspecting scout knife collector doesn't get taken by that knife.

Phil, Jerry's got it right, that knife only came with the museum shield. Looks like the old scout shields were the same size

I sent a message to him relating the facts but I see he hasn't changed his listing. Maybe he hasn't pulled his email yet.

It is a tampered knife and I have held in my hands another tampered knife from this seller at one time which he was quick to accept back, no questions asked. Incidently, along with a large number of Silver blade etched knives in that Statue of Liberty run, were a much smaller batch of GOLD filled blade etched ones. All of these knives have very nice bone. They are an upscale version of the Uncle Henry 124 UH, four inch knife. Often one can buy one of the silver ones more reasonably than the Staglon 124UH version.
