Camillus 72 on Steroids

I've had this Camillus 72 frame and backsprings for awhile. I decided to see what I could come up with to make it usable. I found that the main and sheepsfoot from a Camillus mid-size stockman were a perfect fit. They're bigger and beefier then the standard 72 blades, but went right into place with no alterations except the kicks. The coping blade from the stockman was too heavy to fit into the frame alongside the sheepsfoot. So, I found a smaller pen blade from a Camillus jack worked great, and was proportioned right for the smaller end of the 72. It was going so well that I just had to add a set of vintage Sambar Stag slabs. A 72 on steroids! :D

Heresy! Heresy, I say. I pronounce you a heretic. Prepare the stake. Burn him to ashes.

Good job WB. There's one that just screams to be in the Frankenknife thread.

You definitely have a good eye for using random parts. That knife looks stock.

That Sambar stag looks real nice also. It kinda reminds me of the Uncle Henry staglon.

Great job.

I love that. It looks like it should be. I do not have a 72 but it reminds me of a Parker I have. I would never know it was not original.

Nice job WB! Image
The clip blade, sheepfoot and pin blade combination is a fairly common variation of the Stockman pattern. I think generally they are found in smaller frames than the 72. I think Schrade made a number of them less than 3 inches in length, in the Open Stock series.

When you can take the blades from other knives and make a knife that looks believable that is excellent work! ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu::
