Well over 50 yrs ago I knew a lady who would not buy Christmas gifts if they were made in China . Her daughter will recognize her in the following.

Did y'all see Diane Sawyer's special report? They removed ALL items from a typical, middle class family's home that were not made in the USA .

There was hardly anything left besides the kitchen sink. Literally. During the special they showed truckloads of items - USA made - being brought in to replace everything and talked about how to find these items and the difference in price etc..

It was interesting that Diane said if every American spent just $64 more than normal on USA made items this year, it would create something like
200,000 new jobs!

FOR EXAMPLE THE "OUR FAMILY" BRAND OF THE MANDARIN ORANGES SAYS RIGHT ON THE CAN 'FROM CHINA '

I WAS SHOCKED SO FOR A FEW MORE CENTS I BOUGHT THE LIBERTY GOLD BRAND OR THE DOLE SINCE IT'S FROM CALIF

Are we Americans as dumb as we appear --- or --- is it that we just do not think? The Chinese, knowingly and intentionally, export inferior and even toxic products and dangerous toys and goods to be sold in American markets.

70% of Americans,.. believe that the

trading privileges afforded to the Chinese

should be suspended.

Why do you need the government to suspend trading privileges? You Can..DO IT YOURSELF, AMERICA !!

Simply look on the bottom of every product you buy, and if it says 'Made in China ' or 'PRC' (and that now includes Hong Kong), simply choose another product, or none at all. You will be amazed at how dependent you are on Chinese products, and you will be equally amazed at what you can do without.

Who needs plastic eggs to celebrate Easter? If you must have eggs, use real ones and benefit some American farmer. Easter is just an example. The point is do not wait for the government to act. Just go ahead and assume control on your own.

THINK ABOUT THIS: If 200 million Americans each refuse to buy just $20 of Chinese goods, that's a billion dollar trade imbalance resolved in our favor...fast!!

Most of the people who have been reading about this matter are planning on implementing this on Aug. 1st and continue it until Sept. 1st. That is only one month of trading losses, but it will hit the Chinese for 1/12th of the total, or 8%, of their American exports. Then they might have to ask themselves if the benefits of their arrogance and lawlessness were worth it.

Remember, August 1st to Sept. 1st !START NOW.

Send this to everybody you know. Let's show them that we are Americans and NOBODY can take us for granted.

If we can't live without cheap Chinese goods for one month out of our lives,WE DESERVE WHAT WE GET!

We need some sort of national movement, some sort of made in America spiritual revival.....almost like a law passed recognizing each Friday as purchase American Made Friday or something........otherwise we go back to scrimping and cutting because of the allmighty dollar. I know I do.

I was very pleased to find some USA made receptacles to wire in this past weekend. Leviton brand CR15 and CR20, spec grade devices, 15A & 20A respectively and only $3.49 each at ACE HDW - now just need to find a couple more.

GREAT thread TJ,I've lived this my whole life it's getting harder and harder but I was raised this way and I will NEVER give up BUY AMERICAN the job you save will be your own

TJ and all. The lesson here is "DO NOT SHOP AT WALMART !" Yes they are a little less expensive, but they drive out local stores and the corporation does not give a chit about it's employees.

Let's support local shops and locally grown and manufactured products.

I know a lady that retired from wally world, she worked there for 30 some years. retired with several million in stock options. Granted the new management don't care as much for their employees, but the old man did.

Honestly, the local wal-mart here which is right next door to my store sends people over to me when they don't have something in their sporting goods department. I can't complain too much about them when they do that.

As for buying only american made.....well alot of the popular fishing lures, guns, and other things I sell in my store have been imported from other companies for years....abu garcia, rapala, glock, taurus, are just 4 off the top of my head I can think of. All fantastic quality products even if they are made overseas.

German made knives seem real popular on here as well....even though they aren't made in america? Shoot, even the handles on case knives, probably the steel, and other parts have came from imported components for longer than some of us have been alive.

Do I like that all manufactoring in america has went overseas? NO. But, I blame the american people for it. We have regulated and litigated ourselves out of our own jobs. American companies can't stay in business here anymore. It's as simple as that. Regardless of what people want to believe, WE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE TO BLAME! Back in the late 80's early 90's it started because companies were spending as much in court cost with their employees in a years time as they were paying their employees. Now with all the added regulations businesses face it's even harder to stay in business. Those that can move production overseas will to stay profitable. It's either that or close their doors permantly like so many have.

Most people want to blame american business for our problems. I say unless you have been a business owner in this economy you don't see what we see and understand the challenges facing businesses today. All the stuff we have to carry just to protect our investment would scare a lot of people away from owning their own business. Then we have to worry about employees suing, customers suing, government regulators shutting us down, etc. etc. And now with the Obamacare tax.....well expect more companies to fold.

It is a lot more envolved than just people buying cheap chinese products.

I wish manufactoring would come back, but until americans really want it it won't. Less regualtions, litigations, rules, etc. and we might get some of it back. It will take awhile for companies to gain the confidence that they can bring manufactoring back and be able to compete, but it could happen. But not with our current ideas in society today.

I know how hard it is. My Dad has his own business and so do I.

Just do not patronize those businesses that look the other way and say that they support local products.

Only when our wise politicians do away with the tariff-free imports will we be able to be the manufacturing giants of days past. Put the blame where you want, but we can't compete with China's 50 cent per hour wages.

Even my own employer has been toying with having some components of our dies,built in China.I have complained non stop,even on Monday of this week when i had to rework some of it!

1. That's why I have not set foot in a Wal-Mart in four years. They are the primary contributor in the China-fication of America.

2. I nearly lost it when I saw that most Justin and Tony Lama boots are now made in China.

3. I preach "buy American" all the time, but it seems to fall on deaf ears around me. Like y'all said, it won't matter until it matters and by then it may be too late.
