All About Pocket Knives

Long day at work today, and I'm worn out. The wife has the oldest two boys at my 2nd graders football practice (she's a football nut being from Tennessee). I'm sitting around with the 2 year old, trying to stay conscious and reading the forum here.

All of a sudden he comes up to me and says, "side wiwoul?" Which being translated unto common English means, "outside and whittle?" I'm a proud daddy!

So I'll see y'all later. Me and the big boy are going outside, getting a cedar stick, and going to wiwoul!

....Ya mean he does'nt have his own Apple IPhone,what kind of father are you!He should be mindlessly texting,twittering,and facebooking.Ya men he can actually speak to you,when he could be texting!You are denying him his rights!Why,when I questioned my sons teachers when he was about 8(he's 24 now)why they werent teaching him to write in script(or cursive) their reply,"why Mr.Dunay,everybody "word proccesses"everything on a computer now.My reply;how about sighning his name to a document.I loved the dumbfounded look on their arrogant faces.All kidding aside,whay a joy,need I say more.

Hehe, I'm a high school teacher. I insist on writting in cursive on the board, and many of the kids hate it. I do it anyway. I don't take work that doesn't have capital letters at the beginning of sentences or punctuation at the end either, andim not even an English teacher. They whine about it, I listen empatheticly, and then look at them and say, "so ". They get the point.

Nope my boys are 7, 5, 2. They know what whittling is, they can pick out many of the patterns and brands of my knives, and if I don't watch them my knives have a way of ending up in their knife boxes. That's right, the oldest two have their own knife boxes. I even take the oldest two shooting with me. I'm a horrible father.

I like your old school approach Colonel,basically what i did with my son,gave him all the stuff he needed to do artwork on paper.If you have any artistic ability,do it manually,then enhance it with a computer(seems to be a prerequisite) .But lately some of his stuff has become professional looking by hand,he just uses the scanner to record and post his work.BTW,sounds like the kids are off to a good start.

last time i used caps was maybe 35 yrs ago. i liked t.s.elliott,,, i always hated english even tho it was one of the easier studies. history was another dislike for me. i figured it was made up to suit the author. math was my absolute best.

Math, YUCK! That was probably my worst subject. My wife on the other hand has a degree in math, loves algebra, and woks those insane logic puzzles for fun. I tell her it's a sickness!

I think the fact that there is only one letter difference between MATH and METH is proof that math does in fact rot your brain.

I'm with you on that col. I had to do geometry, algebra, who's wearin a bra?, and calc and trig, none of which kicked in till I went into biz for myself because no one would hire me[ poor attitude] and I had to figure stairs ,roofs, concrete volumes,whoa,suddenly it all clicked and I was forever lost! Being the consumate capitalist wh--e that happens when you're not payin attention to the real things in life, oh to have that back. To late I'm done the grand kids are grown and don't want to talk to an old fart, no problem I'm sailing away without them! Come find me!!!

Yeah, I know. The iPad and I don't always get along. We've gt one computer, I can type on that. This key pad thing on the iPad seems to have a mind of its own.
