All About Pocket Knives

We all know Schrade closed down in 2004, show us your youngest Schrade.
I know there was some unfinished knifes, like the ACB Classic Set. And I do not think the Black Ice was ever made!
So what is out there? What do you have from Schrade that was made between 2003 and the Close Down?

Was all the tolling sold to Taylor in one lot? Has anyone got any unfinished knives,parts etc?

Have this one, a "Schrade Walden NY USA" 881Y with the 100th anniversary blade etch. It came in a plastic tube, but only has the instruction sheet (no label) - there is no mention of Taylor on the instruction sheet. I've been told it could have been made for Schrade by Camillus or Utica, but I cannot find any evidence of pins in the bolsters (appears to be a Swinden key knife). I bought it NOS about a year ago, so don't know anything about its provenience. I would love to know if it was made by Schrade or one of the other two companies.

I have see that 881 before in a clam pack. Schrade sold them, up to the close down in 2004.
I have been using the same old 881 for 40 years, it was my first pocket knife. (see blow)
I have posted some of my older 881 & 881Y knives, all have diferent blade stamping and nail pulls.
As for the Buck 301 knives, Schrade made the first Buck 301 knives starting in 1966.
I only collect Schrade knives, however; the Bucks made by Schrade - are still Schrade knives. Ken

This may be the most recently manufactured Schrade that I own. Coincidently, it also happens to be the very first knife I ever purchased in my life as a collectible rather than a tool. That was in December of 2007. Things went downhill from there.

Snatched up this Schrade USA 70TXBU off the bay. Sellers picture, I'll post my own when it gets here. Just couldn't wait when this topic came up.

The scrade list on here shows that it's 5" closed and only made one year

"7OTXBU X-Timer 5 in,- Royal Blue; aluminum handle; lockback; pocket clip; 2004" per the list.

They also made one in red and aluminum color as well Cutty! I am setting up a display for these as well as the Simple Simon's and a few of the other "Young" Schrades I have.

Thanks Chase I didn't know they made the 7OTX in RED. The list I saw says Grey,Black,Green and Blue. I guess that's another one to look out for The blue one will be my first in this series.

Ken, thanks for posting the pictures - after looking and some other study of the knife I am pretty sure my 881Y is a Schrade built knife from the last year - it has all the hallmarks of Schrade built. OH

This is my ACB 8OT, one of Schrade's knives that did not make it.

Old Hunter, your Buck was made by Camillus beween 1970 and 1973.
Camillus also made an Uncle Henry 886UH.

The 8OT are very hard to find and the 34OT sell quie often... KG

The yellow 11897 (old Y897) was made in 2004 by Camillus under license from Taylor Cutlery , LLC .

My Schrade Collection will probably end up in a Museum in Australia or back in the USA.
I have been collecting items NIB or in very good condition for over 50 years now.
Quite an amount of my items and books have already been given to museums, collections need to be found in museums.
Braking up large collections like my collection and selling very hard to find items, is not why I collect hard to find items…
I do sell items some times to improve my collection, and always valued item with a serial number and the original invoice very high.

What a wonderful magnanimous thing to do ! We started collecting about the same time . I don't know what might have happened to my extensive elephant toenail collection if I hadn't lost my job 12 years ago and decided to start selling knives instead of seeking an honest vocation . After I got over the trauma of separating myself from the first few it just became second nature and now I thoroughly enjoy trading and my collection has become more of a conglomeration . Thanks for sharing your passion with us !

I am not for sure, but possibly that was a 2004 only knife. The pattern is 24OTX

My 2004 Schrade Display Unit came fully stocked in January 2004 and my 24OTX knives came in the cream boxes.
Most of those knives have the price tickets stuck on them.
Your knife in that white box must have been made after my knives…
I would like to know more and more about the last months of Schrade... KG

Any think Schrade sold in 2004 would help this topic....

Those last few months had to be crazy around there. The picture I showed is not a knife I own, some sold it on the BladeForums Exchange back in February for $30.00. I think though, knives in boxes marked final production runs were certainly related to end of days. How I'm not certain. (perhaps SMKW acquisitions and they marketed them). I've tried to find information on the 24OTX, but come up slim. I'm pretty sure it was a K-MART exclusive, and the rest of the X-Timer line was 2003-2004.

Some of the more interesting knives from that time are ones that never made it to retail, but were in various stages of being manufactured. Some of the blue bone knives for example. Lots of knives from these times with no shields or etches.

I have some of the Blue Bone knives that were not finished.
One of my ACB8O knives is a salesmans fulley finished knife, # SS 45.
Some of them must have been finished... Ken
