Winchester Fake?


Hi all........ I sold this knife recently, in honest belief that it's a good knife. The buyer, who himself is very honest, has had questions raised about it's authenticity.

I'm prepared to give him a full refund just because there has been doubt cast, but would like some other opinions so I can learn from the experience.

This is out of a 1926-27 WINCHESTER STORE product catalog.

i have the same catalog. don't you wish you could order and recieve those knives for those prices

You have a very good looking knife. Other than the odd looking short type long pull.

If it wasnt for books and pictures like J.K.B. Posted, that knife would fool alot of people.

But really, there allways was the chance that whoever built the knife could of just ran out of blades and stuck that blade in that frame.
But the knife doctors these days can make their frankenknives look really good.
So its just not worth the gamble.

It is also not normal to have different sized numerals in the pattern number .

Thanks very much for the advice - I'm learning all the time, and that's the great thing about these forums. I never would have thought the difference in length of pull would be a clue, and I just didn't spot the difference in font size used on the model number!

I've issued my buyer a full refund, and an apology for the mistake.
