Blade wobble question?

I have a B&S large stockman that I edc and use a lot. The main clip started getting a bit of wobble and there was the slightest seperation of the liner from the springs towards the same end.
So, going it alone without asking here first, I wrapped the bolster in a piece of glove leather and gave it a few taps with a hammer. The wobble and seperation is fixed with no damage or marks on the bolsters. The only thing is the pin is now protruding from the bolster on both sides. Not a huge ammount, were probably talking <64ths but it is visible and you can feel it.
My question is should I try to peine/tap the pin or do something else to try and lessen the seperation and wobble from coming back in the future? Not sure I can do it without making a huge mess of the bolsters but if it will remedy the problem in the future i'll give it a try.
