I watched it and feel at best it was a draw, with a slight edge going to Biden ::facepalm:: It's interesting that they stayed away from facts and figures and that unemployment was at 7.8% when even the media-left questioned that number.

My wife and I watched the debate together.
About half way though it she said "Ryan needs to un-friend Joe Biden."

I cracked up!

I watched it.
I think debates convince no one of anything. They are a side show to the bigger election circus.
It just gives each side of the political debate some meaningless sound bites they can repeat in the arguments at work tomorrow.
Most people make up their minds without even considering the facts. We get what we deserve.

baaaaa, baaaaaa, baaaaaa!

Of course I have been accused of being a skeptic... ::undecided::

I agree that it was pretty much a draw, whit both sides pretty effectively getting their talking points in.

However, VP Biden was acting like an obnoxious ass the entire time, laughing and interrupting constantly, even directed at the moderator. Reminds you of that crazy drunk uncle at your Christmas party.

While that may help to energize the Dem. base, I think it may turn off some independent voters...

Seems like all of the comments above are right. I was expecting more though. What do you do when Paul says that "6 studies show that my figures of 1.75 trillion over the next 4 years" and Joe says "Well our 5 independent studies show its 1.46 Trillion." Who do you trust and how do you know. I was hoping that Paul would bring in some more facts and figures that we hear and validate them. I have no way of confirming this information and making an informed decision. We elect all of these Congress people based on their campaign stumping and then they go to Washington and are assimilated into one of the good old boys and nothing seems to change

I didn't know we have a whole Marine division assigned to France's embassy and yet we gave Chris Stevenson only 3 or 4 heroes to defend him.

I only know I would love to see all our guys and gals come home and let them jihad each other to death and eat sand.

Putting aside all the economic issues and anything else pertaining to the running of our Nation, simply look at the man Obama and that should make up your mind for you.

Complete butt-whippin' IMHO.....and Ryan didn't do any of it unfortunately......

Biden dominated the tempo, the feel, the control, the mojo......

Believe me I hated to see it, but IMO Ryan was not impressive as I had hoped. He was however, respectful.

Our embassy in France has a USMC security detail there, as do most all our other embassies. It isn't a division, of course; that would be a vast number of Marines.

While Ryan made a valid point with that, it is my understanding that the new Libyan government denied us the placement of a Marine security detail.

Prior to August, there was a sixteen man Army Special Forces unit at the embassy and another six man Special Ops unit, as well, but they were withdrawn, under protest.

The two Navy Seals that were KIA'd were not any part of the embassy security. They were in Libya on a special project seeking the whereabouts of Ghadafy's shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missles, i.e. "Stingers", though not actually.

Those two guys were not even at the consulate, but were near by and simply ran to the sound of gunfire, took up arms and defended the consulate personnel, probably saving several lives. Their sacrifice has been pretty much unheralded, except within the military community.

Libya had responsibility for consulate and embassy security and you see how well that worked out.

This whole post libyan consulate terror attack fiasco/obfuscation charade was an attempt to save President Obama from the stigma of having a successful terrorist attack on U.S. soil (and an embassy/consulate is exactly that) and also to save Hillary Clinton's bacon. Security for Ambassador Stevens and all the others was her responsibilty and she failed them in an effort to maintain a shallow U.S. foot-print there.

Watch for the career, non-political, diplomatic corps to commence a huge whistle blower campaign against her and the president. I suspect it's in the making.

TripleF, I suspect that once the honest, non-alligned fact-checkers parse VP Biden's statements, he'll be revealed as a profound liar.

I know of several absolute falsehoods, already.

i.e., He chided Ryan for voting to "start two wars on a credit card" while he "told them we couldn't aford it".

In truth, Biden voted "Yes" on both the resolutions that led to the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq.

He also lied continuously about the future effects of Ryan's budget and medicare revision proposals. When he looked into the camera and said, "You seniors", he was talking to Florida voters.

We'll see.

You can call me Scott,Charlie......and yes the "truth" checkers will rack up a list of lies I'm sure, but the tempo, the feel, the mojo was ALL Biden, as it was last week when Romney ruled the roost against Obama.......

Yes, Romney did rule the roost last week. But he did it in a respectful manner. I agree that the mojo and tempo was all Biden, but I still think his performance is going to rub alot of people the wrong way...

Here are the top ten worst lies told by Biden during the debate, as recorded by writer
Joel B. Pollack on Brietbart:

His words, not mine.

10. "With all due respect, that’s a bunch of malarkey....not a single thing he said is
accurate.
"

At the outset of the debate, Biden tried to paint Ryan as a liar--when Biden, in fact,
was the one lying. Ryan had pointed out: 1) that the White House had distanced itself
from the Cairo embassy's apologies on 9/11; 2) that Obama had failed to speak up for
Iranian protestors in 2009; 3) that the Obama administration called Syria's dictator
a "reformer"; 4) and that the Obama administration is imposing defense cuts and projecting
weakness. All of that is true.

9. "The president has met with Bibi [Netanyahu] a dozen times....This is a bunch of
stuff."

While they have met several times--not a dozen--that includes a meeting at which Obama
made the Israeli prime minister enter the White House through a back entrance, refused to take a picture with him,
and left him on his own for dinner. Specifically, Ryan had criticized
Obama's refusal to meet Netanyahu in New York last month, and to tape talk show interviews
instead--a clear snub that sent the wrong signal, again, to Israel's enemies.

8. "Just let the taxes expire like they’re supposed to on those millionaires."

Biden's "millionaires" are actually households earning more than $250,000 a year, which
includes many middle-class families with two earners, and small business owners in particular
who report business earnings as personal income. Biden and Obama have repeatedly labeled
those earning over $250,000 as "millionaires and billionaires," distorting the actual impact of
their tax plan on the non-millionaires it would hit hardest, who create a vast proportion of
small business jobs.

7. "You know, I heard that death panel argument from Sarah Palin. It seems that every
vice presidential debate, I hear this kind of stuff about panels."

Biden's cheap shot against Palin was an attempt to diminish both her and the man sitting
across from him. But Palin never talked about "death panels" in her debate with Biden, for the
simple reason that Obamacare had not yet been proposed. Nor did Ryan
mention "death panels"--he had addressed the undeniable fact that Obamacare proposes a
board to impose cost controls.

6. "The congressman here cut embassy security in his budget by $300 million below
what we asked for."

Biden's lie about Ryan's budget was an attempt to dodge responsibility for lax embassy
security--and to cover up that the Obama called for new cuts to embassy security just days
after the 9/11 attacks. Ryan's proposal, which called for a 19% overall decrease in non-
defense discretionary spending, does not even mention embassy security--the Obama
campaign merely made up that number by applying 19% across the board.

5. "No, they are not four years closer to a nuclear weapon."

Biden's attempt to lie about the glaring reality of the Iranian nuclear program fell flat.
Iran is indeed four years closer to a nuclear weapon, and the Obama administration--believing
it knew better than its predecessors--tried to reinvent the wheel on talks with Iran, causing
frustration to our allies in Europe and the Middle East. Meeting after meeting this year has
failed to produce results, and the loophole-filled sanctions, while hurting Iran somewhat, are
not stopping its nuclear program.

4. "No religious institution, Catholic or otherwise...has to be a vehicle to get
contraception in any insurance policy they provide. That is a fact."

No, it is not a fact--it is the opposite of a fact, and saying "that is a fact" does not make
it any less a blatant lie. The Obama administration is forcing religious institutions to provide
contraceptive and abortion drugs through their insurance policies. That is the reason several
dozen religious institutions are suing the administration to defend their First Amendment
freedom of religion.

3. "It came from this man voting to put two wars on a credit card...I was there.
I voted against him."

Biden voted for both the Iraq war and the Afghanistan war. He did not vote for
George W. Bush's plan to extend coverage of Medicare to prescription drugs (though he voted
for an earlier, similar proposal), nor did he vote for the Bush tax cuts. But he voted for both of
the wars he derided last night. To quote Bill Clinton's speech to the Democratic National
Convention: "It takes some brass to attack a guy for doing what you did."

2. "What we did is we saved $716 billion and put it back -- applied it to Medicare."

Biden repeated the lie the Obama administration has been telling since before Obamacare
passed in 2010: that cuts to Medicare today were savings that extend the life of the
program. They would be--if the same $716 billion wasn't also being used to pay for
Obamacare. As Ryan pointed out in 2010, and again last night, you can't double-count the
same cuts. Taking $716 billion out of Medicare means exactly that--and hurts, not helps, the
program's solvency.

1. "Well, we weren’t told they wanted more security."

Biden lied through his teeth about the fact that the administration--specifically, the
State Department--had been told again and again that security on the ground in Libya, and
in Benghazi in particular, was inadequate. The day before, in Congressional hearings on the
Libya attacks, former regional security director Eric Nordstrom described his frustration with
having those requests turned down by the government bureaucracy: "For me the Taliban is
on the inside of the building."

Lies, repeated interruptions/ over talk, laughter and condescension. I appreciate the fact that Ryan did not stoop to Bidens level and showed respect to this contemptuous liar. I personally would have liked to see Ryan backhand Biden out of his chair for his general disrespect, laughter, eye rolling and interruptions, guess that's why I am not a politician. ::huff::

It was a draw at the very least I do not think that Bidens antics add up to a win by any means. No more than a child throwing a tantrum or a loud, blustering bully is a winner.

I think the debate gave us an insight into the character of both men.
Here is how I saw it:

To me is showed Joe Biden for the arrogant, boorish, smarmy, condescending, lying career politician that he is, and a very practiced and polished one at that.

I saw Paul Ryan as an extremely intelligent, respectful, well informed young man if full command of his cognitive faculties. I was impressed by his command of costs of programs and I didn’t feel like he was making up numbers, like I felt Biden did on more than one occasion. I was impressed with Paul Ryan and I hope some day he can be elected President!

If energizing the loyal Democratic base, (the Kool-Aid drinkers), is the measure of success, then I think is may have been a small success.

If winning the votes of the Independents is the measure of a successful debate, I think it was an abysmal failure for the Democrats.

In the final analyses I think the vice presidential debate helped the Romney-Ryan ticket immensely, especially among the Independents.

Side note: I find it ironic that the Pres & First Lady are on their Anti-Bullying campaign, but their guy Joe Biden came across as a big bully; while Paul Ryan came across as a nice respectful young man!

As far as i'm concerened, there's not a politician in, or running, for office that I could vote for with a totally clear conscience! IMHO, every single one of them is a malignant tumor on the face of our country. All the way from my district commissioner to the person setting behind the desk in the oval office and everthing in between.
Bipartisanship my left testicle! Until these idiots get their heads out of their asses and work across party lines to resolve the issues in this country, nothing's gonna to change!! It doesn't matter which party rules what chamber. We are a nation divided, and that my friends is a recipe for absolute failure!! In more then a decade, our so called representatives of the people, have accomplished nothing, and as average Americans, even we continue to play same game. BLAME THE OTHER GUY!!
Folks, we are ALL to blame for where this country is today! Not the Democrats, not the Republicans and not the Independents. ALL OF US!! When we as a nation finally decide to band together to solve the problems we face, then real change will take place. Until then, pitty our children and grandchildren, they're the ones that will ultimately suffer for our BS!!!

And that's why I try to stay out of these conversations! ::disgust::

+1 to WB. I totally agree with you on everything you said. It seems that if someone is uncorrupted and wins any elected office, they are crooked as a barrel of fish hooks by the time their next election comes around. Pardon the comparison but, it's like AIDS. Once they get in office they get infected and there's no cure for them. The only difference is I have sympathy for someone with AIDS, I don't for any politician regardless of party.

Honestly, I get so tired when watching these debates. Unless you are a fly on the wall in the Senate and House, there's no real way to know for sure who is actually telling the truth. Biden came across to me and my wife as the old regime trying to hang on and Ryan seemed to not know everything he needed to. It will have absolutely no bearing on the outcome in November, however I'm sure each side sured up their camps, to some degree. I just don't know that I want to be in either one of them now. It's just a whole, great big bunch of BS if you asked me.
