i pull out of the breakfast joint one moring...doing my routine of coffee, and a quick ride seven miles up the hill to 10,000ft...great view...
so i am all bundeled up, it gets cold at 7,000ft...so i start the bike, poised to pull out onto route 66, an head for the peaks...
well, here it gets interesting...i am on a 750 suzuki two stroke...loud, obnoxious, super fast.
so i get a break in morning traffic, twist the throttle, do the left turn thing out of the parking lot, only to have my rear tire encounter a puddle of ATF,(the mexican dishwasher had a leaky transmission)
so here i am, 130lbs of hurry up the mountian, wind in my hair thing....an i hit this puddle...oops.
so i go down...fast an hard...only my big ol riding boot, with my foot inside, takes the weight of the bike...so here i am,
did you know falling back on a bike, an not letting go of the throttle gives you full blast????
so here i am, full throttle on a two stroke, foot pinned to route 66, foot peg stuck into my instep(thank god for motorcycle boots), an the bike is going nuts...roundiie round on my boot...
rear tire is smoldering the rubber off, the three pipes are screaming an pouring burnt oil everywhere...
can we spell " BRODIE"?
pivoting on my foot, the bike does god only knows how many perfect donuts...
finally...my brain kicks in...duh, let off the throttle...ok...i do that an the bike jumps straight up an goes ten feet before i can stop...
now here i am...sitting on the corner of route 66 an san fransciso street in downtown flagstaff...perfectly aligned with the flow of traffic, how'd that happen?, a red light, so i can catch my breath...
the local post office lady in her truck pulls up next to me at the light...big smile for me, falling out of her delivery van to catch my attention...and says,
"wow dude, that was the neatest thing i ever saw..can you do it again????"
on yea..anytime...i tell her...got up to the snow bowl an had to check my trousers...
