I heard that cell phone numbers are going public. Is that true? I thought that since we pay for both sending and receiving calls the phone companies would not let our cell numbers become public? Anyone know for sure what is going on?

Where did you hear that? I'd like to hear/read the report.

Before the election I had been getting one on a regular basis: Phone rings, I answer, a foghorn sounds, then a recorded voice tells me that I can get a free cruise to the Caribbean for answering a political poll, I hang up. Hope that one is gone for a few years!

I get that one on occasion. You can barely hear the voice over the foghorn.

My friend told me that this morning. She got an email saying that but she thought it was spam. She did register her cell phone at the National Do Not Call list. I told her that may make her number available to spammers? I did get a spam call on mine too. I did not answer it. if I don't know who's calling , I don't answer the cell phone. Most people don't like to give out their cell phone number around here. I don't give mine out except to friends and relatives. I don't like wasting minutes for junk calls.

It's referred to as 'sequence dialing' and even though it's against the law, occasionally someone still does it.
