All About Pocket Knives

I picked this one up recently. It's definitely legit, but the springs look unfinished. The thing snaps like it is new.

Aside from the rust, it's a nice old Walden.






Maybe escaped the factory prior to finishing. Any thoughts?

If there is nothing inside the knife to make the springs stand out like that, then I would say it left the factory without getting the springs ground.
That is pretty easy to do. I grind them on the 8" rubber wheel of my 2 X 72 sander with a 120 grit belt..
It looks factory when you are done as long as you keep the knife at 90 degrees to the belt.

I found this one this weekend, the oil on the blade had dried and turned dark which stained the blade a bit and the bolster.
Not often I find one of these in the box!
I also found an 8OT Schrade Walden which would make a good user.
I will probably put both in my store, I mean, how many user 8OTs does a guy need?

Glenn, if you take those springs down use the liners as your guide, try not to go below them much (other than to clean things up) since that's where the springs are designed to be. This is especially important around the center pin as a bit to either side of it is where the majority of your spring tension is, go too far down and your tension will be too weak. Also, if your kicks need to be taken down do this before you grind or you'll wind up with uneven springs in the open and closed positions. Good luck!!

The Delrin handles have not been smoothed off either. Are the blades unsharpened?
